Day 14
B - oat pancakes (hea) raspberries, strawberries, Sweet Freedom syrup (2 syns). I just realised real maple syrup would have been the same syns. I just assumed Sweet Freedom would be "better". That'll teach me!
L - Naked Noodles Hoisin pot (1.5 syns). Nectarine. I wouldn't normally eat "instant stuff" but I was in a hurry.
T - Steak. SW chips. Mushrooms, tomatoes, onion, courgette, red pepper.
I was out with family this afternoon and had ONE scoop of ice-cream for 7 or 8 syns. I would normally have had a chocolate brownie sundae for about 40 syns!! :eek:0 -
STS again today. Can't really complain. Not been feeling very well, had a Chinese on Thursday and a 3 course meal with super chocolatey dessert on Saturday night for anniversary. So, yeah all in all not shabby.
Aiming for 2lb next week. That will take me to 2lb away from my goal. It's my birthday next Tuesday and planning on having a SW BBQ and some cake. But portioned cake not a cake free for all. And I get my next tattoo next Wednesday!! Can't wait.0 -
Hope you're okay lantanna
Those of you who've been doing SW a while - how many pounds did you have to lose to drop a dress size? I know everyone is different but would love to hear your experiences. I have lost 1st 5lbs and have still not dropped a dress size!! I started this at a size 16 but now I'm thinking that maybe I was more like a 17 and have dropped to a 16 or a 15 (so not enough to get into a 14 IYKWIM). It's annoying me!
I've lost nearly 3 stone since November and was a 16. I'm now mainly 10 but can be 12 in certain shops. So guess Arkers is right with 1 stone per dress size.0 -
Hello, lovelies! Can you tell I’m happy to be posting a loss at last? 2.2lbs off for me, shala, please. I still weigh more than I was at the start of this challenge - the holiday pleasures -, but I feel better about things now.
Hugs for you, lantanna.

I would advise to adopt moderation in servings.
Keep it as a sensible portion, pasta and rice contain calories, if you are not in calorie deficit, then you will not lose weight.
Just my input.
Thanks for your response and while I agree that the wording isn't the best (it's just a tag line to draw people in) when you actually get down to the nitty gritty of the plan its a very healthy approach to eating..
It's actually unlimited free food until you feel satisfied, not unlimited food until you have to put on stretchy pants until you can't eat anymore or you burst, I know that's what our consultant preaches anyway.
If you follow the plan 100% then a third of every meal needs to be vegetables or some fruits, this naturally limits the amount of higher calorie foods that can be scoffed, but yes portion control can also help with this.
If calorie counting works for you then brilliant but some can't do it or find it too labourious, I think that's when a plan like this helps... and it can't hurt to try right?

Of course not, if it works then people should carry on. I do note that lots of people do STS or put on weight, which may be down to portion control of the 'free' items. Clearly, it may be due to other factors outside of their control.
I don't think one needs to count calories per se, just understand what calorific content food holds, and make sure these are not consumed in excess.
Swapping our Rice for Quinoa, or Swapping out Pasta for courgette spirals, is an excellent way to 'pad' out meals without having the impact of carbs.
I am just an outsider looking in, offering my input. Whatever works for you guts carry on.
If you are wondering why I am on the forum, I am just finishing my thesis! its research0 -
No problem at all Credit crunched, we welcome a healthy debate on this bit of the forum
I just wanted to put up a different point of view as you said to avoid this way of eating.
I don't always agree with the Slimming World principles.. they do push certain brands more than they should IMO and they aren't necessarily the healthy brands(sweetners etc).. however, overall I think they like to encourage their members to cook from scratch.
I know my weight gain this week comes from stuffing pizza in my face - no calorie counting or slimming world plan would have helped that this week :rotfl: so there are lots of different reasons other than portion control, but yes I agree that this can be an issue.
What's your thesis about? I love a good health study...Credit-Crunched wrote: »Whatever works for you guts carry on.
