    Hope you're okay lantanna

Those of you who've been doing SW a while - how many pounds did you have to lose to drop a dress size? I know everyone is different but would love to hear your experiences. I have lost 1st 5lbs and have still not dropped a dress size!! I started this at a size 16 but now I'm thinking that maybe I was more like a 17 and have dropped to a 16 or a 15 (so not enough to get into a 14 IYKWIM). It's annoying me!

    Hi Everyone,

Betty- for me I think 1 stone tends to mean a drop in size, however, I do think that there is a mahoosive difference depending on where you buy your clothes. A size 12 in one shop is a size 14 in others. Have you noticed your clothes fitting you better? Perhaps looking back they may have been extra tight in places. I think most of us can relate to those stretch leggings that "grow" with you!! Don't despair as it will come, are you doing any body magic to help with toning?

Will post tomorrow with weight. TBH can't tell, and will be happy with STS.

Thanks Arkers :) My jeans are definitely too big (I have had to tighten my belt by three holes) and my tops are looser under the arms. I am pretty sure I was at the "top end" of a 16 (if not a 17) so I shouldn't get too disheartened, I know. I am walking every day but need to do something more. I have agreed to do body pump with my DH when we get back from our hols so hopefully that will help and I've been wanting to do Zumba for ages but haven't had the courage to walk into class yet.

That's right. It was being at a size 16 and flatly refusing to buy an 18 that started me off on SW. So, in all truth I probably was a size 18 but had just stretched the trousers I was wearing and also chosen the most forgiving styles/brands to accommodate my increasing size. I'm guessing betty that you probably could find a size 14 somewhere that would give you a boost but I wouldn't worry about it. You don't want to spend too much money on clothes until you get to target so just stick with what you've got until they're hanging off you! ;) I wore exactly the same pair of trousers to WI for months until eventually I could get them off without opening the zip!:rotfl:

:T for getting through the weekend without temptation lois. I find the only way to cope with wine syns is to save them for weekends and be really strict with myself during the week. That's mainly because I'm not the sort that can just have a glass and leave the rest of the bottle:o.

I have an old book so just shout if you want to know any HEBs for Red days. One thing you could do is do 'mainly' EESP but with a few carbs for your main lunchtime meal. So perhaps some potatoes/pasta with a SP lunch and then SP in the evening like an omelette with salad or pickles or soup and fruit. The basic carb HEBs on Red were :
    • 198g new potatoes (with skin)
    • 227g JP (inc. skin)
    • 35g dried wholemeal pasta
    • various weights for pulses including 142g of baked beans
Sorry to hear you're feeling down lantanna. We're here to listen if you feel like a moan.:)

Hope the change of job isn't too disruptive abbafan. I suppose it'll be safest to plan for a cold, packed lunch until you know the facilities. Hope you're lucky with a few bargains when you do your holiday shopping. There are plenty of sales about:money:.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, baked beans, HEB toast
L: ham LO veg and potatoes, strawberries
D: chicken stir fry (mushrooms, mange tout, spring onions, peppers, courgette) with brown rice
Syns: squirt of honey in stir fry sauce

Last night I had a packet of crisps, probably about 5 syns. I could afford it (as I'm still not fancying wine:eek:) but still cross with myself as I wasn't hungry at all. It's dangerous to buy them for DH.

I am newly started slimming world and could do with some advice please. Can I really eat unlimited amounts of rice, pasta etc? It seems too good to be true. Any tips welcome as I am a online member as there are no classes near me and I find there isn't a lot of support on their website. Is it best to stick to mealtimes to eat or can I snack on free foods as much as I like? Also I have read on here about water intake, how much should I be aiming for? Sorry for all the questions but just a little confused. Thanks

    Welcome!

Couldn't read and run so I'll try and answer some of your questions. I'm a target member so some of my answers are based on what's worked for me and my opinion rather than exactly what a consultant might say when following the SW script.

The brief answer to your questions about unlimited free food is yes and no problem snacking provided it's on the right things.

    BUT

the Extra Easy programme works on the principle of at least a third of your meals being Speed food (fruit and vegetables from the lists). So, you could have three meals a day balanced to give you the third of Speed. You can heap your plate with pasta provided at least a third of the plate is Speed food.

If instead you look at your food intake across a day and between meals you're eating loads of free food then, to me, you're upsetting the ratio of one third of Speed food.

I'm a bit obsessed with Speed food and I know the people who find SW hardest are those who don't like eating veg.

SW definitely works better if you have loads of Speed (at least a third of your daily intake). I'm convinced that SW agree because their Extra Easy SP programme designed for speedier weightloss cuts out the carby free food completely and focuses on protein and Speed!

Sorry if that sounds a bit preachy. You'll soon find your way around things. Just keep asking questions.:)

    Afternoon,

    Big hugs Lantanna xx

I was an 18 Betty, but I probably had just stretched my 16's to fit me even though I should have been a size up! My loss is about a stone and I'm still wearing all the same clothes they just fit nicer. Trying dresses on last week I was trying on anything from a 16-20.. all depends on the shop. Have you measured yourself? Might be extra motivation if you see the numbers coming down :D

Hi Liamsmum, welcome to the board... You can eat pasta, rice, potatoes etc but somewhere in the fine print it says you should only eat until you are satisfied, or it's definitely what our consultant used to say to us. I think by unlimited they mean "not measured" but it's not worded very well.

As maman, says, if you make sure a 3rd of your plate is speed food then it limits the amount of free food you can eat naturally anyway.

If you want, feel free to post your menu's on here each day and we can check them for you. We can be your group :D

I've never had guidelines for water at group - just drink what the normal recommendation is, about 8 glasses, you should get a lot more water intake from the extra veg/fruit you'll be eating anyway.

Red day for me again, dreaded sneaky look on the scales this morning upset me but it's expected after the weekend I've had!!
    B - banana, yogurt (0.5)
L - corn thins (heb) cheese spread (hea)
T - pork schitzel (heb) salad, pickles
    S - crisps (4) milk (hea)

    xx
    Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.

As an external viewer, I would advise to avoid this approach to dieting. The plan, may well be suitable on the whole, but to advise you can eat unlimited rice and pasta, sends quite a strange message to someone who is looking to lose weight.

I would advise to adopt moderation in servings.

Keep it as a sensible portion, pasta and rice contain calories, if you are not in calorie deficit, then you will not lose weight.

    Just my input.
