Amazing loss betty:T. Are you just one of these people who lose in fits and starts or do you know why you do really well some weeks and not others?

Commiserations greentiger.:( I know the feeling of starting a season without star players well. This season it's only two players and the *lying Dutchman so quite light by our standards. Hope you have a better day today.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, HEB Puffed Wheat with HEA milk and strawberries
    L: Probably soup and melon
D: Hairy Biker's Steaks:drool: with onions and mushrooms served with SW roast potatoes and parsnips, carrots and cabbage
    Syns: maybe some chocolate
I'm ignoring the syns in the gravy as 1 level tsp of cornflour shared isn't worth worrying about.

I'm not sure Maman, I think I have a bad week and STS and then I go gangbusters the next week to make sure I lose (hence the big loss). Then the week after it's hard to lose (or maybe I take my foot off the pedal) because of the big loss and so I STS! There are a couple of 1.5lb losses earlier on in my weightloss journey so I am able to lose weight 'normally' sometimes ;) I am going to try as hard this week as I did last week and see what happens - I'd like to lose 5lbs in the next two weeks in time for my hols but I'm not sure I can post three decent losses in a row!

Your Hairy Bikers Steak meal sounds delicious! I could eat that right now.

wizkid1 Sorry you're feeling despondent. The thing that got me back on track was the SW journal. I wrote down everything I ate this week and planned every meal and I got that good loss (hadn't lost for two weeks before that). In terms of the food I definitely ate fewer carbs this week - e.g. had chicken marinated in Reggae Reggae sauce with roasted peppers, onion and courgette but no potatoes or noodles. I had baked potatoes - which are carbs, I know - or pretty much soup every day for lunch but no bread. I haven't eaten pasta at all this week. I only had Weetabix a couple of times this week and had a banana and some plums or bacon, egg and baked beans instead. Not sure if that helps but it's what worked for me this week. Keep your chin up. :)

Your 'good' menu sounds similar to what works well for me betty although I almost never cut back on carbs. Like you I only have cereal/porage twice a week and mostly have eggs or beans. I'm fairly obsessed with Speed though but not at breakfast time. I was going to suggest soups to wiz as it's a good way of having a SP meal. Lentil and veg is my favourite. I had it today with a big slice of melon to follow.

I don't usually maman (and I did eat noodles, rice and baked potatoes last week so I didn't cut them out completely) but I felt like I needed something to kickstart my weightloss and reducing my bread intake in particular felt right for me.

I struggle with speed a bit - I can manage a speed meal or three over the week but not a whole speed day. Soups are a brilliant lunch option, I've been making a lot of carrot & coriander soup and also one I made up with bacon and baked beans. I must buy a melon, it's a fruit I always forget about and it's so nice on a sunny day.

Thanks for the ideas I will certainly try them all.
    Day 1 tomorrow.
I usually do green but weekends I do the one with only 2 healthy extras.
Fingers crossed for the week ahead.:):):)

Thanks for the commiserations, maman. I didn’t mention that, penalties aside, we did not come close to deserving a draw never mind a win! Awful stuff. And btw Hearts & Hibs have already been knocked out of the euro championship to teams from Denmark and Malta – although, to be fair, that (and Celtic losing away to Imps from Gibraltar) just makes me laugh! It’s going to be a loooooooong season, methinks.

I just wanted to get into my size 12 jeans. I know that I am still 'overweight' according to 'the book', but I look normal (ish) and I feel normal so that'll do. I will carry on though as I know that I can still lose more, but anything from now on is a bonus rather than a 'must have'
Frogga, I think you have found the secret to real life success. I love this! Thanks.

Love the “cankles, shala – the word not the state!

Today I've managed a bit better, thank goodness.

    Evening all :)

    Day 2, 40 to go....

Well I've made it through the 1st weekend of the school holidays and survived, yesterday was quiet in the morning but then 27 more families arrived and the rest of the day was just manic - the fish and chips were very popular. Today wasn't quite as manic, we had some rain earlier in the day so that helped, then the sun came out and quite a few people decided ice creams were the order of the day.

I've been staying on plan fairly well but I don't feel like I've lost any weight, the scales will tell all in the morning. Today we had bgty sausages, onion gravy, mash and cabbage for dinner (at lunchtime) and the leftovers for tea when we closed at 8 - bubble and squeak, sausage and egg with an orange for pud to up the speed. I haven't had a Heb today and don't think I'll need anything else. I'm enjoying weekend wine and watching Quantum of Solace - it will be hard to resist drinking during the week.

Greentiger and Shala - cankles are hereditary in my family, my mother was underweight all her life and still had them. I envy people with ankle definition.

Frogga - I'm with you on being content to be a certain size/shape even if you're still technically overweight. I was the weight the health 'experts' recommend when I was 12 and there's no way I'm ever going to be that weight again, without looking like a beanpole.

Shala - you can have synned yogurts on SP days, but like you, I find it easier to do Red days occasionally, the problem for me is remembering the quantities of Hebs on red as I left my old SW book in Spain!

Tie - bad news about the Vimto flavour, I can't believe they'd have apple as the 1st listed ingredient and not put it in the name, it's not a berry after all.

Well done to everyone that's lost weight this week and virtual hugs to anyone that's struggling, join Beanie in the 'plodding' club, we'll get there eventually. :)

See you in the morning with the result of my weigh in.

Morning all...Just quickly checking in and been going through the posts I've missed.

What is the new Vimto flavour called (sorry I must've missed it)?

Has anyone tried the Quorn peppered steaks? I had some on Saturday and they were really nice - they are not cheap though!

WI on Saturday morning and I gained 0.5lb, I was kind of expecting it really as it was star week and was feeling mega bloated.

It was quite an emotionally fuelled group session, one girl got quite upset as her weight does seem to yoyo quite a bit. The consultant is giving her help.

It's going to be an emotional week for me, as it's the last week in my current job and I'm starting my new one on Monday. I am going to stick with similar things for lunch, as I don't know what the facilities are at this new place.

Need to go clothes shopping for my holiday in October next weekend, because if I leave it too late, the Autumn stuff will be in the shops.

Going to the jewellers at lunch time today to pick up a ring I needed mending after I had to have it cut off my finger as it was too tight and cutting off the supply. That was a couple of years ago and now my fingers have shrunk back down. They sized it at a P and a half.

    God I'm sweating already!

If I don't get to post beforehand, have a good week all. :)
