You would think that they would have the journals available to take the same week you buy the countdown, rather than having to wait a week. I bought my countdown too early thinking the offer had started (I'm sure the consultant said it was during May) but missed out on it!
Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £24,616.09
  • Checking in with a 1 lb loss which I'm happy with but it's frustrating as I now have 13.5 lb off *shakes fist ti the air* - ah well - got my diary (finally!!) and I'll be saintly this week.

I also bought the curry heaven book (we love curry) and I'l be boshing out a few of those this week.

Going to plan my week out and not have a black hole weekend.
  • I had to wait 3 weeks on my diary cos my consultant was away on holidays...I'm sure you all know that cos I moaned so much about it lol

food today has not been overly plan friendly as littlie had her best friend round for a play date so I did them a little picnic :)

planned from tomorrow for a few days - each with between 5 and 10 syns to keep me ticking over despite quite high syns yesterday and today :)

Later than usual today but have been on plan completely.

B - bacon, egg, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes
L - prawn salad dressed with balsamic vinegar. Was supposed to have been prawn chilli noodles but I bought different noodles to usual and they were far too sticky to mix with the prawns & salad. At least it saved me some syns as didn't have the sweet chilli sauce:D.
    D - chicken & cannelloni bean curry/rice

    HEA - milk
HEB - 1 slice of WM bread so still 0.5 HEB left for Ryvita if wanted.

Only syns have been 25ml gin (3 syns - that's gone up from 2.5:() with diet tonic

No wine syns planned this evening as not really feeling too good.

Sorry I missed last week, again! Life good, just haven't been in the online world much lately. Have only skimmed the last couple of pages of posts as I have SO much to catch up on. But I hope everyone is doing well, hugs to anyone struggling. Reporting a STS for the two weeks. Better than a gain but really need to get my bum in gear as I'm going on holiday at the end of summer. Have bought a countdown and got the journal as inspiration. Going to start using that Monday!

Alison - The book doesn't list many vegan options, but if you have access to the website you can search for them. If you use the syns search, it will tell you what's a HE (unlike the useless HE section!) and how much to have. But the rule I generally use is that 120 calories worth of a calcium enriched plant milk will be a HEA. I use soya, hazelnut or coconut milk - occasionally oat or almond too. Lots of options! But none of the vegan cheeses count as HEA as far as I know, as they're generally not fortified. There are vegan SW groups you can join on Facebook for info but keep in mind that a lot of vegans do tweak (e.g. not synning avocados, or counting Violife as a HEA when it's not) so you might find them confusing while you're still getting used to the plan. BTW, I'm not vegan but am lactose intolerant so have looked at pretty much all the milk alternatives!

ETA: I don't personally bother with the HEA now, I have milk if I feel like it but don't force myself if not. I get calcium through other sources and the HEA amount is well below RDA anyway so I'm not concerned about skipping it. So another plan tweaker here :)

Now that I'm not on the social team (the people behind the desks), I don't bother turning up early to group. The basic format for all groups is that it's 90 minutes total. The first half hour is for weighing, and then the talks start. The talk format varies a bit in my experience - some consultants do a bit of a motivational talk and let you know any updates (new foods, etc) first, others jump straight into member results. But I aim to arrive about 5-10 minutes before the end of weigh in. Enough time to get weighed and settle in, but not feeling like I'm hanging about waiting for it to start.

Going to go read a bit more, so might be back with some extra comments. But if not, I will try to check in more regularly again now.

Evening everyone! Well done to all the losses and great 1st loss alisont!

I managed a very pleasing 3lb lossthis week! Really needed that for motivation as have been coasting for a while now. Need to get 1.5lb off next week to get my 3.5Stone award and 2lbs to reach my interim target!

Did have a chinese tonight, but very little other food today, and will be straight back on it tomorrow.

My new bike arrived today. Haven't ridden in about 7 years but it was just like riding a bike! This should up my exercise a bit more as it will be easier to pop to the shops or cycle to the gym, and it will save on petrol!

In the spirit of getting straight back on it here is tomorrows plan in advance!:

B - bacon, boiled egg, toast (heb), tomatoes and beans
    L - chicken caesar pasta salad (1)
D - meatball lasagne (hea), salad
S - very small slice of the cake I'm making. Not sure on syns but won't have any others the rest of the day!, yoghurt, fruit

Alisont - fantastic loss and 1st shiney in Week 1!

Are nut milks vegan? There are lots available like Almond milk, coconut milk etc.

Alternatively what about having soya cheese instead of milk for HEA?

Although as long as you are eating yoghurts you will be getting some calcium. There is also plenty in leafy green vegetables so probably not too much of a problem if you don't have a full HEA.

    HTH

    Denise

Yes nut milks are all vegan will try some, I do get a lot of calcium in other forms such as my green vege.

Well done Alison, great result in your first week. :T

I tried one of those Alpro blackcurrant soya yogurts - it was REALLY nice, tasted like it was really synful, definitely worth 1 syn.

    LL :)

They are amazing I'm having one daily they are so good for the syns, must stock up at Tesco next week as 50p each. My small table top spare fridge in the garage is full of them.

Thank you yes I guessed the cheese wouldn't be on as not calcium enriched - last time I did SW it was all about green days and they were including cheese. I could make some cheese but the nut ones would be daft syn wise but the tofu ones could work but would go off before I've eaten it all so not worth it. I'll just syn violife as I use it. To be honest I'm probably better not having much cheese as I like it and 25g isn't a lot.

I am on the main vegan SW Facebook group and am aware of the tweaks! I'm just counting everything this time round and even the soya yoghurt (I'm still not quite sure the syns for that are correct but no doubt are)

I using the app and compiling a list of my favourite foods and syns.

I finish work by 4.30pm Thursdays so if the bus and 2 trains are on time I'm back in the hour or a bit less - the club is only 5 minutes from the train and in the opposite direction to home so I can't go home first as I'd never go back out! Ill have to take a book to read and sit in the park a bit before class. Or might volunteer to do the raffle tickets if early.

I was thinking of swapping to the morning group over the summer holidays as I'll have 8 weeks off - it might be a little tricky with my voucher card as I'm on a 12 wk course the council are providing but I'll see how it goes a long as my consultant knows I going to a weekly class that will work I think.

Managed 2 social events well today - a pub meet up where I got a jacket spud and beans before then I just drank water and then met friends after their pizza lunch for a coffee.

Treated myself to a Chinese takeaway but had boiled rice and sweet n sour tofu so just need to syn the sauce. The Chinese I go to in Birmingham will prepare the meal without oil and the express box is smaller portions so works well.

I'm not sure what the for and against is in SW terms, but whenever we need to decide to change something in our life it's good to work out why. Losing weight can be a life changer, but sometimes we do it because we think we should rather than because we really want to. There are lots of benefits to being slim and it's useful to think about the ones that are important to you.

When I was in my 20s I remember saying to my boss that if a doctor told me I needed to lose weight because of health issues, I would, but at the time I was active, healthy and not bothered enough about being overweight to do something about it. Now I have serious issues with my knees caused by a lifetime of carrying too much weight and I'm worried about developing type 2 diabetes, having a heart attack or a stroke, and a multitude of other possibilities that could shorten or impact my life, so there are lots of 'fors' and only one 'against' which is pretty feeble really - not being able to eat and drink everything I want.

Exactly - that's literally the only 'against', and as you say pretty feeble, especially on SW where you CAN eat and drink what you want (in moderation). I just need to verbalise the 'for's and stick them up on the fridge or something I think!

Well done Alisont on that fab loss :T

Have a good day all, I'm off out for a 10k run on the Moors in the rain :(
