Someone upthread mentioned not having a piping bag - just use a large-ish sandwich bag instead; you just fill it, twist it into the "cone" shape and then snip the required size "hole" off the corner. You can have super-thin piping (for delicate icing) or giant fat piping (for putting mashed potato onto the top of a cottage pie!)
I really like the journal. I hadn't had a chance to look at one before I got mine this week, but knew I wanted one because (a) I loved the tracker when I - briefly - did WW and (b) I always do better when I write it down, but those little A5 food diary sheets are no bloody good. The boxes are Far Too Small.
I must also be sad because I have a four-colour biro and each colour has been allocated to a different thing already; in the meal planner, weekday "everyday" meals are in blue, weekend "ordinary" meals are in black, where I'm having an off-plan meal (this week I'm lunching with some friends on Sunday and having fish and chips, and out for a curry on Tuesday) is red, where I'm "catching up" is in green. Then in the meal planner itself, speed food is green, syns are red, free food is black and HEs are blue. I use a 4 colour biro at work too, and it's far easier to know what I'm looking for because everything has a particular colour!
And now to weigh-in! I was very happy to have lost 1.5 lbs this week. When I've been a bit off-plan for a week (as I was when the in-laws were visiting) it takes my body a bit of time to catch up, so another good-ish week this week (excepting the fish and chips and curry, of course :rotfl: ) should really help me. DH is away this weekend [STRIKE]playing soldiers[/STRIKE] with his Army Cadets so it's just me and the cats until Sunday...not that it will make much of a difference, other than I only have to cook one brunch tomorrow and Sunday, and I have to do all the food shopping myself. He's back in time for Sunday tea so it's just tomorrow to sort myself out.We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

Lol! It's taken the vegan world by storm! I've never found the fresh to buy so get the tinned one in water from the Chinese supermarkets.
I don't know if it tastes like or is the texture of meat as I went vegetarian at 6 years old - to me it's a lovely taste once marinaded with BBQ spices/sauce the fruit does flake/pull and looks a bit like pulled pork - which I've only seen in pictures really. I can't remember how to add photos otherwise I would.Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.

Well I went t the first week weigh in last night and .......... Had a fab first week loss of 7.5lbs!! So got my 1/2 stone certificate on my first week - really made up with that. I know it's a first week thing so will slow down now but a good start.
The group I went to seemed nice and friendly, but I was so tired after that heat as I had done 8 hours in the kitchen at work supporting students. I'm glad I didn't fall asleep.
Found the talk the consultant made to be very honest and open and I genuinely felt he wants to help people lose weight and get healthier and be happier. I got there early before group and then it seemed to be ages for the session to start about 3/4 hour for the wait then a talk and a lot of it is about everyone's losses or gains. I'll have to take a snack to eat there stop my stomach rumbling! Only smack bars are those hi fi ones and all had milk in but did buy a little book of sauces as l love my sauces and would be good to make syn free versions.
So been good today
Breakfast - overnight oats
Lunch - cous cous and peppers, carrot, courgette, jackfruit and fresh herb salad.
Dinner Linda Mac sausages, beans, mushrooms in garlic, baked tomato, and a salad whilst waiting for tea to cook!
Snacks and syns - 1.5 for Alpro go on yoghurt, 2.5 jackfruit, got to check if syns in cous cous and might have a small vodka later.
Not had hardly any HE A as I struggle to drink soya milk unless on cereal and no other vegan option listed so can't se how I can have that option.Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.

Alisont - fantastic loss and 1st shiney in Week 1!
Are nut milks vegan? There are lots available like Almond milk, coconut milk etc.
Alternatively what about having soya cheese instead of milk for HEA?
Although as long as you are eating yoghurts you will be getting some calcium. There is also plenty in leafy green vegetables so probably not too much of a problem if you don't have a full HEA.

Well as a non group member I've never heard of a SAS log either - nor have I heard of a 'for and against' can someone enlighten me? I'm guessing it's do with motivations as to why you want to lose the weight etc? I tend to be very self sabotagey at times so I might give the SAS one a go and see if it helps
I've done the same tete joined online and paid a reduced fee or 3 months, that'll take me up to my holiday where I hope to be either at or near target. I really missed having the syns calculator on my phone, it's a lot quicker than googlingWill have to scour the bookshop as well for more recipe books I'm forever running out of ideas
No sign of mallons sausages at my Tesco (I checked online), I've never found a sausage (other than highly synful Richmonds) that I can say I actually enjoy. I might try the BGTY ones next as I like the burgers
I have a thumping headache today .. I think my hayfever tablets are sending me woozy I could happily just curl up in my bed and stay there
Today's food:
B - Puffed wheat half HEB with milk HEA, bananas & satsuma
L - Spaghetti on toast half HEB plus 3 syns for extra slice
T - Something chicken-y I've not decided yet with rice and veggies
Happy Friday everyone
It's probably a bit late to say this, but the voucher in the Mirror last week also gave free access to SW online.
SAS stands for slimmers against sabotage and it's a tool to look at the psychology behind food choices. It can be done on line or using a paper form if you attend group.
I'm not sure what the for and against is in SW terms, but whenever we need to decide to change something in our life it's good to work out why. Losing weight can be a life changer, but sometimes we do it because we think we should rather than because we really want to. There are lots of benefits to being slim and it's useful to think about the ones that are important to you.
When I was in my 20s I remember saying to my boss that if a doctor told me I needed to lose weight because of health issues, I would, but at the time I was active, healthy and not bothered enough about being overweight to do something about it. Now I have serious issues with my knees caused by a lifetime of carrying too much weight and I'm worried about developing type 2 diabetes, having a heart attack or a stroke, and a multitude of other possibilities that could shorten or impact my life, so there are lots of 'fors' and only one 'against' which is pretty feeble really - not being able to eat and drink everything I want.
On the subject of sausages, Morrisions Nume sausages are very good, they're 1.5 syns per sausage, but I find 2 is enough, and they're very tasty.
LL:)
P.s. I didn't realise hay fever tablets cause headaches, I've been suffering this week but I thought it couldn't be hay fever as my head feels like it's full of cotton wool, now I realise it could be the tablets.Start BMI - 38.7 Current BMI - 31.2 Target BMI - 26.30 -
Well done Alison, great result in your first week. :T
I tried one of those Alpro blackcurrant soya yogurts - it was REALLY nice, tasted like it was really synful, definitely worth 1 syn.

Am disappointed to report a 0.5lb gain this week, but not a surprise really as I've been feeling bloated all week!
My next weigh in date will be 23rd June as I'm doing a fun run next Saturday and won't be able to make it. Then after that it will be 2nd July, so a couple of long weeks.
Hope everyone is well.
I hope you don't mind me posting this but if anyone would like to make a donation that would be appreciated. We are supporting Bliss - which is a charity for premature and sick babies.

:T that's a brilliant start alison. Well done! And you must be pleased with your 1.5lbs emmylou. That's a good steady loss.
Unfortunately most groups have that hanging around and going round the group discussing losses and gains every single week. That's the SW formula. Good consultants get discussion going on tips and ideas but many can be very samey. I get more from talking to others in the group and on here. Anyhow, now you've joined you can make your own mind up how useful the group will be but you have the basic info. Do keep asking on here if you've any queries.
Shame about the tiny gain abbafan but it won't be a 'real' gain if it's bloating so just press on and you'll be fine. Good luck with your run.:)
They had the journals at my group this week but people signing up for Countdown couldn't have them until next week. Why would that be as they'd already parted with their money?
Those sausages say 'out of stock' on the Tesco and Asda websites so probably not stocked in England. We like the Sainsbury's BGTY Cumberland sausages at 1 syn each.
Friday ended up quite high syn as I had wine and ice cream yesterday evening.
Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, HEB porage, HEA milk
L: not hungry yet but probably soupLidl pulled beef, patatas bravas, mushrooms and asparagus
Syns: squirt of syrup, weekend wine:j
Dinner's all prepped so we can eat between the Wales and England games.;)0
