Can anyone explain to me why muller lights are free but other own brand fat free yogurts have a syn value? I've got an @ldi one a muller one in my fridge and I've checked the ingredients and they're nearly identical. There's actually more fruit pur!e in the muller yogurt than the @ldi one so its not that.
I just find it weird0 -
I'm curious about something too - why is bread so strictly limited on SW, when pasta rice & potatoes aren't? Is there a particular ingredient that sets it apart?0

I've been a lurker for a while, but have emerged from the shadows! I've just started SW, but I must admit I am confused about the guidelines. I'm following them & eating lots of speed foods, but last week I maintained, not lost. The week before, I didn't follow them so closely & had a huge 5lb loss. That week I was away, so weighed in elsewhere. I am working away for the next weigh in & have thought about what to eat while I am away from home. I have found another group I can go to when I get back, so I only miss 1week, not 2. I don't understand how you can eat unlimited free foods like potatoes & meats & still lose weight. I have concentrated on the speed foods, so hopefully a better result in a couple of weeks.
I have tried some of the recipes, which are great, really tasty & filling. Any tips etc you experts have will be gratefully received!!
For the challenge I had better be conservative.

Hi Pip,
You can. Honest. I did SW for a year (eating shedloads) and lost 4 stone.
It's about how full the food makes you.
You can't actually eat unlimited pasta or bread, because for every plate of pasta you've got at least a third of low cal and filling fruit or veg on top ands all stomachs (even mine ) have a max capacity.
You might find it easier if you focus on more filling options - leaving the skin on your potato or opting for brown pasta or rice, but functionally all you need to do is eat when you're hungry and stop when you aren't anymore.
As to weight losses not seeming logical - been there, done that!
You've done a lot of hopping about, so you might find once you're in a routine everything works out - but it might not. Sometimes the scales take a little while to catch up.
It might be hormonal, heat, stress, or dietary (the weight of what you ate or drank before weigh = more or less volume in the system if you get my drift. 1 litre of water (3 mugs of tea) weighs 2 pound).
Plus clothes. The number of weeks I've blamed my wet socks for my missing loss :rotfl: Try and wear the same for weigh every week and try to be consistent about if you eat or drink before hand.
Sorry for the mini rant - cold hands and tired me make for lots of words.
But good luck and glad to meet you.
NSThat sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Hi Newbie logging in!
Just WI today lost 3lb which with 6 last week I'm very pleased with.SCP # 034

The bread thing is about the density of the food compared to its calories. I don't think you can gain weight on SW!
You've got to think about how you would normally eat, for example I'd have a lot of pasta and a bit of meat and some source.
So if you had 100g of pasta which is a lot, you'd also need an equivalent amount of chicken breast and vegetables, which is a lot of food but probably also only about 500 calories.
The reason I stopped is I just got tired of going to the group first time around, I stuck around for three extra months trying to lose the final few pounds to a totally arbitrary target.
I was the only man there, I got tired of everyone looking at me every time they mentioned a star week. Or what my opinion was on one of the girls getting a breast enhancement, I mean, what do you say?0 -
Thanks for the replies& encouragement. I think I will stop having breakfast before a weigh in. I noticed everyone else had brought theirs along. Also I drink lots of water in the mornings , & , as you say, liquid weighs a lot. Onwards & upwards!!0

Good Morning

Morning all
Happy 1st May to everyone - it's hard to believe it really is May with the weather we've been having. I go to Spain to avoid the winter, but this year it waited for me to get back!so_very_confused wrote: »Hi Newbie logging in!

5lbs please.
There's no accounting for bodily and other fluctuations that can affect weightloss, you just need to trust the plan, keep sticking to it and the weight will come off. You may not get a loss every week and sometimes it does seem unfair, especially if you feel like you deserve it, but there is a 'catching up' phenomenon that works both with being good and not being good. Sometimes we have weeks when we know we've played fast and loose with the rules but we somehow get away with it at the scales, but then gain the following week. Same goes with sticking to the rules, it doesn't always have an immediate result, but it will over the long term.I'm curious about something too - why is bread so strictly limited on SW, when pasta rice & potatoes aren't? That's something that has always puzzled me too, and my theory is that it's flour - if you think of all the foods that are very high in syns - pies, pizza, cake, pastry - all have flour in them. I realise pasta is also made of flour, however it's a different kind, which may be the reason it falls through the net. Wholemeal bread is a good source of fibre, which is why you can have limited amounts on SW. I think it's also a common food item for most people so it would be very difficult to give it up altogether, and people just wouldn't stick to the plan if they couldn't have any.
Jock - :rotfl: at your experiences in class. I'm going to class now and we have a token male who is doing very well - he's lost 2.5 stone and he only started in January but whenever his success is mentioned I hear people commenting how much easier it is for men.
Have a good day everyone, enjoy the long weekend if you're having one. If (like me) it's just like any other weekend, try not to feel hard done by.
