That's why they turn into teenagers so you can contemplate the idea of them leaving;)
The first time the eldest went for 2 nights aged 8 it was strange but it is a very gentle way for them to get a little taste of independence. He enjoyed it so much that I was able to put my own feelings aside and be glad he had a good time. (They went to PGL so were really busy).
I have worked with a couple of people who went to boarding prep at 7 and I don't know how their parents made that decision - I couldn't.MortgageStart Nov 2012 £310,000

Hi Lady, I'm a fairly new convert to this board but I wanted to say how much I enjoy your diary. I really like your way of splitting you money 3 ways - I might steal it!
It's really nice to hear about someone with very MSE ways with kids at private school too - we'll be starting ours on that journey next year and I've been a bit worried that our outlook might be a bit out of step with other parents so it's reassuring to see there's at least one other out there like us!
Look forwards to reading more of your successes!1 -

Hello everyone, I am just back from visiting MrGnome's family in North Africa which was warm.
Thanks for your posts.Hi Lady, I'm a fairly new convert to this board but I wanted to say how much I enjoy your diary. I really like your way of splitting you money 3 ways - I might steal it!

I think there are a few of us juggling a mortgage and school fees and lots of parents saving up with an eye to university costs as well. One of the things I like about this board is there is a mixture of situations so you get to see lots of different approaches.:rotfl: Of course, LadyGnome!

I can't say that comes as a complete surprise to me! If you are in the forces or work overseas I can see why it might be a good choice but otherwise I am not sure.brizzledfw wrote: »XBox working nicely thanks Lady G...OH monopolising it, having bought an older version of Tomb Raider this week.. :rotfl: .. Back from holiday. I will need to update my signature in the next day or so. I did the money shuffle just before I went away so I still need to fully update my spreadsheet. I have all the numbers noted down but haven't yet input them all.MortgageStart Nov 2012 £310,000

Not much to report today. I've updated my signature and spending isn't too bad, especially as my bank card has been cancelled due to someone attempting to withdraw money in a far flung bit of Asia whilst I was in London with the card. Luckily the bank's fraud protection team picked it up straight away, declined the withdrawal and blocked the card. So I will be sticking to cash for the next few days until my new card arrives.
I did get my £20 from the Bank of England Mutilated Note service. It came through within a week. I now have a bank account credit called Mutilated Note (it sounds like a student heavy metal band).MortgageStart Nov 2012 £310,000
