Hi LG nice to see you back - I hope you had a great holiday and that the return to work isn't too gruesome. I am not finding working through August too bad - the roads are clear and the trains are empty so the commute is much better. It is like the majority of the UK has closed for the holidays but just not told anyone !

Its not as worrying as it sounds. Its the Bank of England's mutilated note service. We had a £20 note that was badly torn and so no bank could take it. Instead I got a form off the BoE website and sent it to them. They replaced the note with a credit to my account and will take the torn note out of circulation.

Hi Busy Mee, my commute is definately better. I have managed to get a seat without any problems so that is definately a plus. Work is fine but I do seem to have left my motivation on the beach!

:rotfl: I wasn't talking about the mutilated note service, it was the card fraud I found worrying.

    Whoops :o:rotfl:

I have no idea how they got my details. I haven't done anything obviously silly so I assume my card was skimmed somewhere. I've got a new card on its way. Luckily the fraud was so clear it was easy to pick up the transaction as dodgy. There is no way I could be withdrawing money in Nepal so soon after using the card in London to pay for food shopping and public transport.

Not much to report at the moment, all spreadsheets reconciled and now just waiting for payday next week.
I did count up my change pot and there is over £40 to go to the bank.

Sorry shock of going back to work was a bit of a strain - think it'll be same for me on Monday!

£40 in a change pot is good. My kids keep raiding mine for school dinners so it never seems to really grow!

Payday yesterday so did the account tidy up on Wednesday and the money shuffle on Thurs. What am I going to do for the rest of the month... my spreadsheets are all up to date and my signature is updated.:rotfl:

It's been a funny month with the holiday and my bank card being out of action. I've had to move money out of my current account into savings as I've used my credit card more, whilst I waited for my new bank card. I think it will take another month before all the transactions show through and I can get back to normal financial planning.

I was glad I had already put aside a fair chunk of money for school uniform as it cost £260 and I am still to buy shoes. The elder Gnomeboy is under strict instructions not to grow for the next few weeks.

At least I now have my bank card so I should feel more organised and in control now.

I have over £200 on my cashback card (money loaded from my salary each month) so I will be able to buy the school laptop for the elder Gnomeboy this month.

    :hello::hello::hello: Hello LG

Wow, over with OH's family in North Africa! Very hot, very wonderful, I should imagine :)

Excellent news that the bank spotted the card fraud - thats a big help. I was wondering how it happened too - there's a couple of articles in The Guardian today about cybercrime. One lot of fraudsters got more than they asked for when they tried it on with a Police Commissioner :)

Hope the disruption goes through your system without any further trouble.

    Thanks KC

I think I was lucky because the fraud was so obvious. It shows you need to keep an eye on transactions because your details can get taken no matter how careful you think you are being.
