Stumbled across this thread and have read through it all - it's been a great source of both information (sometimes too much!) as well as encouragement. There don't appear to be many of us guys contributing so hope you don't mind me doing so!
Our situation - DW and I got married a year ago and have been TTC since December. DW came off the pill last August to give her body time to adjust as recommended. She had her first few AFs but now hasn't had one since the end of February. She has always had relatively long and irregular cycles apparently but obviously we got very excited when she was late but only had BFNs. We then bought some OV sticks but with no regular dates to go by it was a bit like shooting in the dark! I know she's done a few pregnancy tests on and off but all BFNs. We're now in June and still nothing so DW is going to see the doctor today. Am hoping that they don't just say come back in 6 months so that if there are any problems they can be looked into now. DW is 33 so time is ticking.
Being a naïve bloke I thought it would be just be a case of DW coming off the pill and then within a month or two being pregnant. Hmmm, bit wrong on that one. It's only now that we're TTC that I've had conversations about it with friends who either have children or are also TTC and heard their experiences. I know it's not exactly an everyday topic of conversation and very personal but I wish in a way I'd had more of an idea of the potential difficulties involved and could have started sooner.
Still on a positive side I'm loving all the BD. Although initially the methodical every 2-3 days thing did take the romance out of it a bit and it sometimes felt like we were doing it because we had to do, as the months have gone on it's really made our relationship even stronger and we're having a lot of fun

Jiblets -- have just read your post re your doc's appointment and i feel so angry for you. two male docs that i see at my surgery are fantastic (one when i was suffering with depression and the other re IBS and the possibility of ttc), so it makes me mad when I read what your doc was like. hope you see someone better who can help you and give you some ideas/reasons.
some help if i might ask??? just had second AF after coming off the pill (lasted 5 days) but started 34 days after my first AF. Should i be using those dates to look at the ov dates?
not taking the ov dates too serious at this point as we have only just started, but would like to work out what my body should be doing.
thanks0 -
Jiblets - I hope you can sort it out with your doctor. All you need isthe doc looking at you like you are an idiot.
I'm at the docs later this week. I've recently changed doctors and I've found this doctor much better. Although saying that we haven't had much conversation regarding TTC yet. My appointment this week is to try and get my allergies under control without meds (i'm really struggling). last time I went I got a locum, so really didn't go into much detail. But the time before I was really struggling with migranes and he spent more time than I expected with me.
Big hugs and baby dust to all.Money, money, money, must be funny....in a rich mans world.

I am so cross today  I'm late....2-3 days. I thought that the thought of getting referred to the fertility doc (again) had worked its magic again, taken the pressure off and had fell pg...just like last time. AF is just now showing up
I said to hubby at the weekend that when they took my cervix out they might aswell have taken my womb at the same time all the bl00dy use it is.
I am so cross!! I let myself get a little excited thinking about doing a test later in the week. I knew/know I shouldn't but can't help it.
I am so fed up now of TTC.....I am gonna stuff myself full of chocolate tonight :rotfl: :EasterBun

I don't have any of that but what I do have is......lots of kinder chocolate, some tesco own dark and milk belgian choc, 3 different flavours of Aero bar (the big ones) 2 boxes of belgian mixed selection, tesco own white, tesco own white with strawberry pieces in it......maybe more but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.....enough to choose from I think :rotfl:
Also I now and then do trips to the nearest Kinnerton factory shop, keeps me stocked up(they do big bags of the flake chocolate, too cheap to say no to)
