I will be TTC from mid-September (aiming for honeymoon baby!) and came off my pill at the beginning of May in preparation. I had the usual bleed which lasted six days then 16 days later, I started to bleed again, which I think is what MsTine referred to in her post earlier today. However, this bleed hasn't been "normal" and I was hoping if somebody could let me know if they have experienced the same. Basically, it started off as brown gunk (sorry if TMI!) for two days, then a day of practically nothing (not gunk, no blood), then a day of blood, then a day of gunk again. I don't know if this is just my body getting used to not being on the pill (I've been on it for about 9 years now).

I know we're not allowed to ask for medical advice and so I'm not asking for a diagnosis, I am just after knowing whether anyone has had the same?

Hi there. Just browsing this thread as we're not TTC yet, but I came off the pill a few months ago to let my hormones settle down before TTC next year (we hope!). Anyway, I just thought I'd let you know that this is exactly what I experienced after coming off the pill - the withdrawal bleed, and then the following week (so a little sooner than you but we're all different!) I started having the heavy brown discharge with occasional days of light bleeding and some days of nothing at all, which lasted a couple of weeks:eek:. I was beginning to think it was never going to stop, lol. The following month I got a normal period, and have now settled back into exactly the same cycle pattern as my pre-pill days.

Hope that reassures you. I think you're right, that it is the body's way of adjusting to the new hormonal situation. Plus, I feel GREAT now I'm not on the pill. Possibly psychological, but I feel so much more myself now that I have a natural cycle with its ups and downs, rather than an artificial hormone induced fug.:rotfl:(Try saying that to any GP I've ever had though - absolute refusal to believe that the contraceptive pill can have anything but positive effects.)

What about monitoring your ovulation, then you'll be able to decide on a month-by-month basis whether it might happen (and you'll know when it's prob a non-issue)?
    Steph

    Yeah that's a good idea - thanks.

Although there's always Murphy's Law that might just take effect!

    Hi everyone,
I'm normally quite an active poster on MSE but have registered under a different name in case anyone recognises me!

    Hi there and welcome!

What you describe is exactly what the nurse described to me so it is probably normal. If you are unsure then do call your surgery and speak to the practice nurse and I am sure she'll be able to talk it through with you :)
When I came of the Depo injections a while ago now i had lots of what you call brown "gunk" and then a bleed too so it sounds the same. My periods however were all over the place (every 2 weeks  ) but that was because of coming of the Depo. We tried a couple of pills to settle things down and the one I'm on now finally settled me down in a regular pattern. I just hope it continues when I come off the pill in a few weeks!!!!

Thank you guys, your comments are great, just wanted to let you all know that we were using the pound land tests and that's what gave us our first positive so they are a great bargain.

According to the TCYF book every day you have clear slippery mucus until it has dried up completely. The last day of ewm is peak fertility day but you never know which day that is until its gone of course! Although you tend to have one day in the month where its more profuse, generally you will have 2-3 days of fertile mucus in total.

I'm officially one week late. And kinda grumpy about it. I've been having back pains like my period is coming for 3 days! I'm really tired, and would start looking at these things as symptoms, but I've now had 2 BFNs and just feel full of the humphs. boo. :(
Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o :o

Hugs to you Jiblets, I think its one of those days today, proper miserable and not nice to be around, poor H2B. I'm blaming wedding planning

But probably more to do with fact that AF arrived this morning, only 13 days since last  guessin thats my insides getting sorted from coming off the pill, doesn't look like a 'proper' AF tho, brown gunk, sorry if TMI :o I was surprised by how upset I was actually, but I guess good things that have come of it:
    • Body is sorting itself out
    • More BDing! All this TTC seems to have lifted both of our drives, its like it was when we first got together! lol
    • I'm going to the download festival on wednesday so fingerscrossed AF will have stopped then.
Thanks for listening to the moaning, hope everyone has a good friday.

    baby dust and hugs
