Went to the nurse today for my smear (hate those things!) as wanted to get it over and done with before trying to concieve! Had a nice chat to her too about wanting to start a family etc and she was very helpful in doing a little diagram for me to explain how things will run after I come off the pill...
When you come off the pill you get your usual bleed, then staying off it you should ovulate roughly in the next 2 weeks and have another period. They recommend not trying to concieve until after the second bleed mainly to help with dating everything and also to give your system a chance to settle.
So will take her advice and also start folic acid as soon as I can :)
Oh and she obviously pointed out the obvious of no alcohol, healthy food, nothing artificial etc etc etc! :)

    Hello to all!

I found this thread yesterday and have read most of it between then and now!

It's been quite a rollercoaster reading through these let alone TTC myself!

I am currently in my third month off the pill, been taking it easy so far, BD every 3-4 days or so and just seeing what happens however we are both getting quite excited by the prospect now and I'm looking to step up my actions a little!

I have been out at lunchtime and bought zinc for my man and folic acid for me!

We have a wedding booked for Setember '09 and we were planning on seeing how this goes for 6 months, then if nothing happened I would go back on the pill until after the wedding. Probably don't need the stress of having both at the same time!! But I'm now beginning to wonder if I'll be able to go back on it after coming off and looking forward to that BFP!!

So anyway thanks to everyone who has posted on here for sharing your very personal experiences and your extremely helpful and encouraging information - you are all very lovely people and I wish you all the luck in the world!! :A

Thanks Sarah, and welcome to us TTC-ers! Good luck to you too x

That would be REALLY freaky - that is MY name
    I'm Steph Smith :D

Hi Steph  you're in luck-- Smith was my maiden name and we've double-barrred :rotfl:

Thanks for the luck/good wishes everyone! I actually managed to wait and not test this morning, will see how long I can hold out for (no real symptoms, other than the missing AF...)

Wedding AND baby (hopefully) in 09? That's a lot of expensive stuff going on Good luck to you! (hopefully the BFP doesn't come in Jan 09-- just in time to delay the wedding-- if you do decided to stay off it!)

Hi all. Still no AF (5 days late) but I've had my back ache today, so I imagine I will be on by tomorrow. I presume. I hope (I think).
Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o :o

Yeah, that's why we're supposed to be just trying for 6 months!! I don't think I could handle a huge bump and all the hormones on the day, and i certainly don't want to put the wedding off, especially as we have paid deposits now too!

So fingers crossed we get lucky soon and then I won't have to make that choice whether to go back on the pill or take the chance! :D

What about monitoring your ovulation, then you'll be able to decide on a month-by-month basis whether it might happen (and you'll know when it's prob a non-issue)?

Hey all who are trying to concieve, hope you are all enjoying it. Not been on in a few weeks just been very busy as i started a new job so we can save more pennies for when we get BFP! Hopefully soon!

Well me and my fiance have been trying since March 2007 so thats what 16 months and we have not had any luck at all. Tried different things like ovulation kits, robittsin, being relaxed, cushion after sex (lol) legs in the air,you name it and we've tried it. So we went to OH doctors who advised it was pretty standard to wait two years before they do any sort of testing. We were pretty frustrated by this but thought it will happen eventually. A lot of people in here were saying that there docs test after a year which was annoying me as i was told otherwise, so anyways today i was at my own gp for another matter and asked him some general questions and he advised the exact same thing.

he was explaining that there is only one day a cycle that you have a chance in getting preg he says if you have a cycle every month then you only have 12 days out of a whole year where you are going to get pregnant. I liked how he was so matter of fact about it as alot of other people tell you rubbish where as the docs know what they are talking about. Made me feel a little better about myself knowing that the likely hood of something being wrong is very minimal.

he knew i was concerned and said if adamant he would see what he could do for me but i was happy to keep trying and he says the next stage is where the man gets tested first and he says most people fall preg within 25 cycles so im quite happy im on cycle 16 out of 25 so hopefully its only a maximum of 9 cycles until something happens

hope what i am saying makes sense and puts a lot of people minds at ease, the way i look at it is - do you want the night you conceive your child to be focused just on that or do you want to remember the love and fun times that you and your other half had making baby! i want to remember it being a happy time and not stressful, at end of day conceiving a child is an everyday miricle that most people take for granted as some would say a gift from god (im not overly religious but i think thats a good reason)

well i have waffled on long enough - time for some fun

    enjoy and take care
