  • i was supoosed to start my second go at iui on monday but due to whiplash injury have had to cancel this month * sigh* we will try natural again in the hope i dont have to go back to hospital again for all the prodding and iui etc but it never works naturally so i wont get my hopes up!

re luteal phase: yes a short luteal phase means you may be getting pregnant but the luteal phase is to short for implantaion to occur. its a wonder ANYONE gets pregnant when you look at all the obstacles!!??? although progesterone suppositries extend the luteal phase so anyone where that is the only problem it is easily fixed!! When you have IUI they give you progesterone suppositries to make sure your luteal phase is atleast 14days even if thats not your problem, they use it as a fail-safe. So anyone with a short luteal phase worry not! its fixed with a capsule once or twice a day for however long you need it.

    Hello Vk - 2008

I assume you havent been to see your gp yet? I was just like you, spending loads on ovulation tests etc. Dont forget the best time to be BD is BEFORE ovulation so the best time is up to 3 days before you think you are going to ovulate. ( get plenty of swimmers in there ready!)

There are some simple tests your gp can do, just go and tell him you have been trying over a year. He will be able to arrange a sperm test on your hubby( it might not be anything to do with you!) and a day 21 progesterone test for you which checks your hormone levels after ovulation. He can then advice you on when to start thinking about further fertility tests ( 14months isnt THAT long to be trying even though it seems forever!) You can then have a Histosalpingogram that is a set of xrays taken whilst dye is squeezed into your womb this shows if your womb looks ok and if your tubes are blocked ( which would stop sperm getting to your egg even if you ovulate).

It may still just happen naturally:D but if it doesnt there are plenty of steps to get you on your way to motherhood.:j xxx

    Hi Miss Penny Pincher,
My LP was only 10/11 days long. I did have 2 early m/c. I started taking a vit B complex which I had read increases the LP. I am now 10 weeks pg so I would say its worth a shot. My vits were called H-factors by a company called Higher Nature. They provide Vit B2, B6, B12, folic acid, zinc and TMG. (therefore no need to take extra folic acid). They were expensive, I was taking 2 a day to start off with then reduced to 1 a day. I took them for 3 months before I had my BFP. You can order them on the internet.

ps I read about the H factors in a brilliant book called optimum nutrition before, during and after pregnancy by Patrick Hollford. Found it really excellent. Advice for men also re how to increase sperm count. Also read that men shouldn't keep mobile phones in their trouser pockets as the rays may damage sperm.

    Hello
I'm quite new to these forums and just found this thread - I thought I'd add my experience. It took us 4 yrs to conceive with no m/cs or anything else in the meantime. It took a year for my periods to get back to normal after stopping, Agnus Castus (Vitex) helped.
After 3.5 yrs ttc we were faced with IUI or adoption and decided we didn't much fancy either and we were too stressed. We sold our home and quit our jobs and set off travelling the world. 6 months in I got pg.
I am quite overweight and according to an acupuncturist I saw at one point all my systems were quite inflamed and swollen. Well, for the month before I conceived and the month of conception I was taking anti-inflammatories (ibuprofen) for a back problem I had. I reckon they had something to do with me getting pregnant!

Wishing you all lots of luck.

Well AF has been trying to make an apperance for the last few days - just brown discharge (sorry if TMI)

Never had this at the begining before - but then it's the first true AF i can remember properly - so am desperatly trying not to get carried away with thinking it might be an implantation bleed...what do you guys think?

i'm think i might have OV about 10-12 days ago as had AF like cramps, although not been testing so can't be sure.

Do you think it's too soon to do a test?

I wouldnt test until you are a few days late personally-so many ladies test early and get upset or confused by the result.

Try to relax, and wait a day or two to see what happens.

    Hi stargirl.

I was the opposite last month. I always get spotting and brown discharge about 2-3 days before AF due, its normal for me but I got none last month. I just got AF with no warning and it was quite short too.
I believe that the stress of TTC can alter our AF but personally it doesn't worry me.

I agree with keelykat and have said it many times on this thread thatI wouldn't/don't test until I am late. I try to wait until I'm about 5 days late as the last couple of months I have been a couple of days late.
I also worry that if I tested too early then not only have I wasted a test but also in the back of my mind I'd keep wondering if I maybe am pg but too early to detect the hormone. So then the worry starts again.
By only testing when you are late you are more convinced of the result IMO.

I know its hard but try not to think about it (says me who sends herself scatty thinking about it 24/7 :rotfl: )

    Thanks Shelly & KeelyKat!

I think i will wait until the end of the week and if the spotting stops and AF doesn't appear in that time i'll do a test!

as we don't want anyone to know we're TTC i only have OH to talk to about stuff and i think it's TMI for him ;) - so it's great to post on here to get other's opinions!

Hi again, i confided in my sister-which was a big help :o i made her swear to keep quiet when i did my test and it was positive. It drove her mad for the first 12 weeks!

Keeping things quiet is tough, the forums like this one help though-talking to others in same situation. My OH was so chilled out, that at one point i actually posted on a different forum upset thinking he wasnt bothered! Once i had seen my gp and he told me to get a test done as my symptoms were adding up....he soon got excited and i realised he just didnt want to pressurise me or worry too much :o He's now acting chilled out again.... now and then he'll have his excited moments but i think some days it hard to take it all in.

I hope you get your positive soon! :D

Well AF visited for 2 days only, after waiting 8 weeks I expected more than that!!!!

I am finding it hard to decide when I will OV, I know it is usually somewhere 10-14 days into cycle, but if I have another 8 weeker...then what. Maybe we will just have to bd everyday for the next 8 weeks:whistle:

Any ideas, should I buy an OV test kit. Has anyone used them, are they worth the money?

    Mel x
