  • Very many congrats GracieP
  • We decided to start "officially" TTC after our holiday in August. Worked out my dates for OV and I'm actually noticing changes in body at that time now where I never have before. OH was asked to work away from home this month for th first time in 3 years. Two days after he left I got the EWCM and was gutted. He called me tonight to say he'll be away for an extra week so by me calculations AF will arrive this week, he'll come home next week, can practise for a week and then get down to it the week after. :D Two of my mates are pregnant at the moment and it's quite hard to talk to them. Could be worse I suppose, my other friend doesn't have a steady relationship and I think her biological clock is ticking. At least I have a chance of falling pg soon.
Going to visit my doctor this week as I'm on sleeping tablets as I'm quite bad for sleep walking but having checked online they are not suitable for women trying to get pregnant. Don't know what I'm going to do. I'm up half the night without them moving furniture and searching under beds and in cupboards for people who aren't there. The main reason they gave me the tablets was because I scratched hell out of OH's back one night when I was sleeping. He had big gouges and I had half his skin under my nails. I thought he was an intruder. Even with the tablets I have been searching for intruders in my sleep the last few nights, think it's cos he's away. :o It's not a labour ward I need, it's a psychiatric one. :D

Have been TTC number 2 for 13 months now. First took 5 months and is now 2.5 years old. During pregnancy with her I had an undiagnosed burst appendix for ages but my crohns diease wrapped around it and stopped me getting peritonitus (spelling :) ). I also had an abcess on the other side :(. The consultant at the hospital said there is no reason why I can't concieve after that. My cycles are regular and I show LH surge and temperature rises etc but no luck. Does anyone else have this?

What's the betting that now we have booked a wedding for nine months time it happens this month  . I have to say that I'm not determined to have a second one but my little girl keeps asking when she can have a little sister :rotfl:

Hi Rosielx - I too have Crohn's Disease. I was diagnosed in 2005 when DS was 2 1/2. I had an illeocaecal resection, then a couple of months later due to the surgery I had a twisted bowel and was really ill. I'm fine at the moment (touch wood) but I too wonder whether it will have an effect on TTC. I'm pretty sure that it won't as I'm in remission at the moment, and I've read that if your Crohn's isn't active when you get pregnant then you should have a normal pregnancy as if you didn't have Crohn's.

Actually my concern is that I now have a huge 9 inch scar going from about 2 inches above my belly button, right down to my pubic line, then 2 horizontal 2 inch scars either side of it, and I wonder how they're going to stretch if I get pregnant.

I get newsletters from the NACC (National Association for Crohn's and Colitis), and the one I got the other day was actually about pregnancy and Crohn's. If you want to PM me your email address I'll try and scan it and send you a copy if you like.

  • Welcome to Pooky and rosielx!

Will be on CD28 on Monday and hoping that AF doesn't come to stay, though I am sure she will. Will be disappointed for 2 reasons if she comes because 1. it will mean that I am not pg and 2. it will mean that my LP is only 6 days! Although I have been technically ttc for over a year now, I have only become obsessed in the last cycle so still trying to learn how my body works and how my cycle works. Not the end of the world though because doesn't look like my DH will be going to work away so no desperate need to get pg before he goes but I still just desperately want to be pg.

I love coming here to "chat" with you girlies who are in the same boat.

pinkpig08 - I think we might have matching scars :). I has a resection and appendectomy at 32 weeks pregnant which was supposed to be key hole surgery and left a huge scar. Then at 34 weeks emergency caesarian and another resection which left me with a wonderful scar which goes round my belly button and down about 5 inches.... I do get the crohns articles from the nacc but don't remember the pregnancy bit. My crohns is active at the moment but with a wedding planned I'm hoping that I don't get pregnant for a while at the moment. But still trying anyway

I got my newsletter 2 or 3 days ago so yours could be on its way.

My scar goes round my belly button to - I hate it because I don't have any feeling in my belly button anymore because of it and it's really weird!

I hope everything goes well for your wedding! I would carry on with the TTC because it may take a while. Even if you do get pregnant, there's loads of brides dresses around which would go lovely over your bump :)

We 'stumbled' on a retail park today (we didn't intend to go there and didn't even now it was there, we are new to the area..)... And they had Mamas & Papas store there. I couldn't hold of and not visit it!!! We need some gifts for friends babies and it was a fantastic opportunity to feast my eyes on the cute things. Looked at prams, nursery furniture, cribs.... We did buy one thing - a gift for friends baby, a very cute soft toy-rattle. I did have a bit of tear when leaving, as I want to have baby so much these days!!!!

Oh, and I found out the maternity pay in my company - just what the government pays, no enhanced pay... It is not going to be easy, but I am not willing to compromise on pram or nursery!!!!! (I am trying to get my husband used to the idea, that I may be spending a good few hundred pounds on the pram!)

    Hi

I am new to this thread but just wanted some advice.

I had Implanon but had it removed about the middle of March and have been TTC ever since.

I just want some info about best times to conceive and whether previously having the implann for a year may be the reason we havent conceived yet

    Thanks
  • Hi all, another long termer here. I may stop lurking/posting for a while as the whole thing is starting to get to me really. I am 39, and have just found out that my FSH levels are really high. We are just about to start IVF again - 2 weeks - and we will do it the drug free way as the drugs will not stimulate more eggs so not worth while. We have being ttc for 5 years since DS was born, and I always thought it would happen in the end, but faced with the fact of my declining fertility has really knocked me for 6. I knew I was getting on a bit!! but being faced with the reality - I think I would have prefered not knowing and remaining in hope. So Im really depressed, when I should really be putting my all into the next few months. I am having as many goes as they will let me before my 40th birthday, and then hanging up my booties and although not giving up altogether, will start to have to come to terms with the fact that my child bearing years have finished, and I do not have the big family I have always hoped for.

Sorry to be depressed and rambling - I really do wish you all the best with your endeavours, and have learnt some lovely new phrases!!!! (Population paste is my favourite!!)

    God Bless - Lilo
