Had 6 months of clomid 2 years ago which turned my into the pyshco b1tch from hell and I was happy to finish them...needless to say, it didn't work. My consultant was so patronising and offered us IVF but as I'd already got my DD's we'd have to pay - not something we could afford or had even contemplated to be honest.....he told me it was a "one off offer" and that I needn't come back in 2 years time when "I'd failed to give my husband a baby".....(no I didn't complain - far to emotional at the time).
So here we are - I've just turned 35 and feel as tho time really is running out, I've just started taking Angus Castus in the hope that it will even out my hormones and kick start the ovulation.
Would be intersted to hear from any other "long termers" experiences and any advice would be fab.
Hi Pooky & Welcome!,
That is such a cruel attitude from a consultant - he should be sacked! - and a 'one-off offer' indeed - it's not not even true!!!! I guess he was just after some more money for his clinic's pot.......
He may not want to treat you, but there are lots of other fertility clinics out there. If you are willing/able to pay, as long as you are in reasonably good health there is no reason why you cannot go privately and have IVF done if it comes to that.... various clinics have different 'rules' as to who they will accept, but from research I have done (I'm thinking of changing to a different clinic), most easily accept women up to 40, and quite a few accept them over 40, although success rates start to dip quite a bit so I'm told (I'm 38, so my clock it ticking very loudly ATM!!!!). You will need a letter from your GP to refer you, but once the GP knows you are willing to go private they will usually write one, no problem.
If the Agnus Castus doesn't do the trick I would ask your GP for a referral to a different clinic - if the previous consultant was so keen to get you to pay for IVF that quickly, maybe there were some other tests and options he 'missed' along the way? I was under the FC for 18 months before they decided that ICSI is the only way for us - we tried several different things and had loads of tests done before that point.
Good luck, and don't worry - at 35 you have a few more fertile years left!

GracieP - so sorry - I'm just catching up on the posts over the weekend and saw your bad news.
Big (((HUGS))) to you Hun. So little I can say to you at this moment to comfort, I know, but thinking of you and wishing you peace and consolation.

I am 39, and have just found out that my FSH levels are really high. We are just about to start IVF again - 2 weeks - and we will do it the drug free way as the drugs will not stimulate more eggs so not worth while.
Hi Lilo,
It looks like we will be almost 'IVF Buddies'! If my blood tests from this morning are OK, and I can get the darn blood-pressure down (never had high blood-pressure before....) then I'm due to start from my next cycle - which should start when AF arrives - which should be on Friday.
I'm on a chemical cycle, so will start downregging injections from CD19.....
Best of luck with your cycle, and even if you are not going to post so regularly, please do keep in touch and let us know how you get on!
Fingers crossed for you Hun! (and me too!!!!)

I'm really sorry to read your news GracieP and I hope that the pain is better today. Sending you a virtual hug...

Hi guys,
Sat here feeling depressed, i did a test this morning (even though there was like no chance it would be poss) and it was BFN i just had to take it as last night I was sat in bed sorting pics on my fone and had to run to the loo feeling sick, dizzy, tummy ache as i did when PG with DS. but seeing that single line might as well have been a spear to the heart.
My 2 pg friends are due next week and in 4wks and I was so determined to be pg before their babies came along but problems having IUS removed hasn't given us the time humf!!
anywho back to the ttc-ness does anyone know if a OV test that shows a feint line (ie neg but picking up low level LH) means that I may have missed OV if 2 days after the feint line neg I got a no-line neg or does it not work like that?
Love and hugs (esp to Gracie) xx:grouphug:0 -
The faint line on OV test means that the level of hormones is lower - it could be either before the actual OV (levels still rising) or after OV (levels going down). So, if you got faint line, it could be either, even if you had no line in 2 days.... Also, the LH varies during the day, and how much you have been drinking (I don't mean alcohol) as it can get diluted...Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0

CD1 is the day of proper full flow bleeding. Don't count fresh spotting or DBS (dirty brown stuff) if you get either of them, only full flow.
HTH
Isn't it typical! I am on the first cycle of using the fertility monitor and this morning I get a high reading after peeing on a stick. Hubby went away today and won't be back until late wednesday night.
I just knew he would be away when I ov.
Hey ho....there's always next month....:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

Thanks for reply- I do know the whole thing about CD1 above.
I will explain, I had some flow on the 21st Aug CD21 (intersperced with DBS) then sharp abdominal pains 26th/27th then more DBS then more flow which was def AF on 30th which lasted till about 3rd/4th Sept so all in all I have no idea what happened? CD1 of last cycle before that was about the 1st Aug.
Make of that what you will, I don't know what went on? This is why I am now a bit confused this month0 -
We had been TTC for over a year and finally I am pregnant! I tried having sex every 3 days (when sperm at its best apparently) then laying on my back for a whole hour after sex with legs in air not moving at all. HTH someone?0

How is everyone? It seems pretty quiet here...
I wasn't too well yesterday - went to bed at 8:30!!!!! It didn't help of course, that I found a small lump near my pelvic bone (no, it is not an ingrown hair, but it got me worried), and was getting sort of PMT symptoms I sometimes get (weakness in my left leg, oddly enough)... Hopefully it will be better today, although, 'I think', my lump is a bit bigger then yesterday!!!!! If it doesn't go away, I'll book an appointment to see a doctor after I am back from Norway...
Sorry for a rant....Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Morning Ginvzt,
I've been keeping a low profile - lurking more than posting, but thought I'd log in to reply to your post.
I have a lump in my pelvis, on the left side just above the bony bit and beneath my pubic hair (sorry if tmi ;o). I got the doc to check it out several years ago, and again recently when getting fertility checks done and both times I've been told it's a lymph node and nothing to worry about. It really hurts though sometimes; usually it just feels like a slight bruise, and gets more noticeable towards AF - one day a few years ago I could hardly walk with the pain! But that would be really unusual.
Best thing is to get it checked out to put your mind at rest. I know a few friends with similar lumps - all lymph nodes - but it's definitely best to get it checked to be on the safe side.
CD 20 for me - I'm still trying to be positive. It's REALLY hard though!! xx0
