From personal experience the best way to conceive is for the woman to take the Pill. 2 of my 3 have been conceived whilst she has been 'taking' the pill

Hi Claire. Welcome to the thread.

I'd say get the blood test done and see what your results are. You have obviously ov'd at least once so chances are you will be fine. If your result comes back negative it could mean that you just haven't ov'd that month but will be fine in future months. You have control remember, not your GP. If you don't want to go onto drugs then you don't have to. You could try TTC yourself for a while and if it doesn't work then think about drugs in the future. (You don't say your age so I don't know if time is on your side or not)

As you say, everyone is different and there is no concrete advice really. I think the general concensus on this thread is to BD every 2-3 days throughout the whole of the month, even when AF is here if you feel comfortable with that.

If you want to go into TTC with a vengence immediately there are a few things you can do yourself. Temp charting, ov sticks etc.

Or you could be like me and not do a thing (other than BD regularly) and hope for the best :D

Good Luck and feel free to ask anything else.

    Thank you

I'm 26 so have got quite a lot of time - I'm just wary of having PCOS and that it may take a little (or a lot) longer for me.

I'm going to have the test done - should be around early september I would think. I'm not too sure about taking the drugs though - surely it's better not to if poss. I was a bit surprised that my GP said she would prescribe them for me straight away tbh.

Good luck to everyone, I will be dropping in from time to time to ask lots of questions! Was wondering if someone can explain about temp charting to me please :o

  • Hi,

Does anyone know about trying to conceive when bfing?
I'd love for there to be a small gap between my little boy and a brother or sister, but I'm still bfing him at 7 months and haven't had AF for 15 months

When I have really bad cramps with AF I take 2 paracetamol and 2 ibuprofen together. I have been advised to take them at 2 hour intervals but I have taken them all at once for years with no ill effects.
Very rarely do I need to follow the 4 up with any more as they knock the pain on the head.

I bought some of the new Feminax last time, they've got something in them called Naproxen which apparently you used to only be able to get on prescription. Anyway they weren't cheap - £4.99 for 6 - but they were well worth the money IMHO

    Hi All,

    Congratulations Supergirl on your BFP!!!

little update from me - did a test on Saturday morning as we were going out in the evening and wanted to check if I could have a drink! BFN :( both me and OH were disappointed, but still held on to a glimmer of hope that I could have tested too early... but AF arrive last night with vengeance :(:(

I really felt different the last week and had convinced myself I was pregnant - but now I just wonder if it was all in my head?

I also have really bad cramps today, which is the first time I've had bad pain since coming off the pill in March (the pain was one of the main reasons I went on the pill at 13). I'm also a lot heavier, so maybe it's a sign that everything is getting back to normal and it'll mean when it does happen it will stick IYSWIM! (really trying to look to the positives!) My cycles also seem to have settled at about 28 days (cycles so far: 52, 28, 29, 27) which is a positive sign.

here's hoping for better luck next month and good luck to everyone else who is TTC
