Congratulations Supergirl!
Well I had some spotting on tuesday, which is exactly 7 days since some BD just after OV. I'm tryng to convince myself it's not implantation bleed, so I don't have a big dissapointment, but struggling as I'm also having some slight cramps. AF is due sunday, so will try not to test till saturday.
Babydust to all!Money, money, money, must be funny....in a rich mans world.

Is it best I buy an ovulation testing kit when Im ready to ttc or is taking temperature reliable enough?
Also..is there anyone on here trying to concieve a certain sex of baby? If so what are your methods? My OH would like a daughter (my daughter is from a prev relationship) so thought it be worth a go,but obviously we wouldn't be upset if we were to concieve a boy.
Helen x
Hi Helen,
Taking temps will only tell you after the event that you have ov'd. The cheaper ov kits, test for a surge of LH which MAY indicate you are about to ov but doesn't tell you, you have. Not sure about the more expensive digital ov kits I think they combine test for other hormones so may be more accurate. Monitoring your CM is one of the best indicators (and free!) - lots of previous posts on how to do this or I would recommend the book tcoyf.
Re: concieving a girl see link below for "shettles method" and charts for people who have tried it.

Wow! Congratulations Supergirl!! You must be sooooooo excited :j :T
I'm still holding out - no sign of AF today, but still convinced it's going to arrive. Tomorrow will officially be a day late. Your BFP has urged me to keep thinking positive thoughts.
I'll enjoy a nice cold glass of squash for you
Congrats supergirl!
Nikinoo - Totally know how you are feeling If no AF today I am officially late too. Temp dropped to coverline today so not feeling to optimistic. Fingers crossed for us.0 -
Congratulations on BFP in the first month of trying!!!
Despite my cramping (which eased off yest) we baby danced again last night.
Lets all keep the positive vibes flowing!!!Proud mother of twin boys - double the trouble and twice the pleasure! :T0 -
Congrats Supergirl!!!!! Fantastic news
I have to stop ttc for a few months as have had the MMR this morning and they suggest three months of waiting.
I did have the MMR as a child but i am no longer immune to Rubella and my doc was adamant that i should be immune before ttc. So OH and me decided that we could slow things down for a bit. Our main prob is i am not going back on the pill and i can't use condoms. Also my cycle has never been very reliable, so i will be taking notes and using this thread to attempt to avoid too many shocks as well as planning for October
Thanks and Babydust to allLeopardlady

I hope none of you see this question as rude, I'm just wondering......
I've read that quite a few of you are (going to or have done in the past) test before AF is due. I wonder why?
Would waiting until you are a few days late really be too worrying/stressful etc?
I guess I'm wondering because I don't think I have ever tested until at least 2 days late. But then for me its sometimes not unusual for AF to be late and I wouldn't want to waste a test (even though they are dirt cheap) I usually don't test until I am 5 days late.
I know we all do things differently and I hope I haven't offended anyone. I just wonder.......oh and I'm nosey :rotfl::heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Just got my post and am even more excited than I was at starting the Clearblue trial now!
According to the letter I am going to get the actual fertility monitor and sticks to go with it. I thought I was just getting the sticks.
Also they are sending me some Clearblue pg tests incase I need them. If I don't get pg in the 6 months during the trial whilst using the monitor they will supply me with a further 6 months supply of their ov predictor tests.
So all in all I am getting 12 months worth of FREE ov testing kits!
I am going to send consent forms back immediately as AF is due in the next week or so and I want to get started ASAP!:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Me again!!
Just seen this posted on HUKD. Might be of interest to those of you that have recently got BFP's or to those of you who are already buying in preparation of a BFP.

I'd love to breastfeed when we have a little one and this seems to me a good deal but I just know my hubby won't let me buy things in advance. Only things I am allowed to have that are baby related are freebies
Hope it helps someone:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

I'm with you on this one shelly. I'd never test until I was late by at least a couple of days, and always try to put it off until the following weekend. I have this idealistic notion that I want to be able to enjoy the BFP to the full when it finally happens. I've actually only done one test in the past 20 months, and that was only becasue the test stick reached it's use by date that month!! Not to mention that I'm too tight to buy even the cheapest of tests willy-nilly
I also find it really hard when AF starts. It did this morning, one day late. It gets harder to deal with every month. I can't imagine how much harder it would be if I tested early, got a BFP only to find that AF then started... I've heard of this happening and I think I'd find that even more difficult to cope with.
I guess everyone deals with it in their own way, and what works for some doesn't necessarily work for others.
As for AF making an appearance, I'm going to compile this lunch time's shopping list from one of Supergirl's earlier postsDH has already started on the folic acid, much to his dismay: "but that's for GIRLS!!!"
