Can being ill affect OV? According to my cycle length i am due to ovulate this week, but started with a really bad stomach upset yeterday. I'm worried it will stop me from OV this week.

    Re Supergirl's comment
Anyway not that anyone needs to know LOL, so we had go number 1 yesterday morning (I just finished my AF) but I feel like I am going to come on again (?) I think this is psychological or I've eaten something dodgey and it's that other feeling if you get my drift!... - was this a good first attempt? (can't believe I am typing this, but no one knows me heehee).

This month has been like this for me. I thought I'd got beyond that terrible place of analysing everything every month, especially as the more I analyse any 'symptoms' the more I convince myself that something is 'different'... only leading to more disappointment at the end of the month. But this month I read a post from earlier about BD straight after AF, thought it was worth a go, and have felt just like Supergirl describes - and of course I'm back to that horrid analytical place.

Roll on 2 weekend's time and I'll be either dancing with joy or drowning my sorrows.

I mentioned to my practise nurse that every 'symptom' leads me to wonder if we've finally made it, and she said something that really helped: "Even if you were pregnant you wouldn't know about it until a missed period". I knew this before, but just hearing it from someone completely impartial really helped it to sink in a bit - it's my mantra now every time I find myself analysing things.

    Here's hoping it helps!

ppps had a strange urge to tell my mum today but thought better of it, I think best kept a secret untill any news - what do you guys think about mentioning it to people yourselves?

I didn't tell anyone except my closest friends when I first started trying. Now we're pretty much at the year marker we're both telling more people, but now we're telling them with the precurser that we've been trying for a year and they are instantly more sensitive.
I also think thank OH and I are dealing with the whole thing a bit more evenly now, where the first few months we were so up and down we really couldn't have handled any stupid comments very well.

Got our detailed results from the doctor today for OH's sperm test. He is producing plenty of it and he's got plenty of sperm per ml. His percentage of alive and going the right way sperm is lower than usual, but because he's got a good high number to start off with the doc says we're absolutely fine.

And......! We've decided to quit waiting and we're getting a dog. We both teach, so the summer holiday is the time. All going according to plan, we should be picking up the pup on Saturday. Woo!

    .

Yes! All of the following can delay ovulation: stress, travel, moving, illness, medication, strenuous excercise and sudden weight change. (from tcoyf)

Hi everyone. I've decided i'm not gong to tell anyone. Maybe if I was younger but I think I would get pity looks, and maybe even told I'm too old anyway (you never know so I'm just going to keep it between how ever may people read this :D)

Re the period feeling, I've been thinking about it and I think I've come up with an explanation. I think it's because we're using our muscles down there a bit more becasue instead of relaxing afterwards I bet we're all doing pelvic floor exercises! Well it's like using any muscle it's going to hurt the next day - this is my theory!
Btw today I felt fine, so it lasted what? 3 days? That's the only explanation I can come up with.

That looks interesting Supergirl, am going to watch when I get home (don't think they'd appreciate me watching at work lol).

I am now on CD55 of who-knows-how-long-a-cycle, really wishing AF would come as I can only start taking the Clomid the doc prescribed me last week on CD2, so come on AF get yourself motivated and put in an appearance. Bought a thermometer from poundland (yes, for £1) and have started taking my BBT each morning this week, just to get me in the habit so can chart properly after AF comes.

Problems with OH and his semen analysis - the hospital closest to us isn't doing appointments for this anymore and the one that is, 30 mins away, only has one slot available for the next 4 weeks, on a day OH cannot get off work, plus you can't do it on-site, has to be brought from home (or elsewhere) and driven for 30 mins, is this too long or will it be ok does anyone know? (as the person making appointments for the lab couldn't answer this question). Also, doctor said to abstain for 5 days before producing sample, but when I start taking the Clomid he said to BD every other day to be sure to catch the egg if one is released, so if he can't do the sample before then, well he won't be able to abstain for 5 days while BD'ing every other day will he!! Knowing our luck, the 5 days he misses would be the time an egg is finally released and we miss it lol.

    Hi honeypop,

We did the mad dash to our local hospital a few weeks ago, and that's a good 30 minute drive for us. We were told that as long as it was there within the hour it would be fine. I drove and DH kept the pot securely between his legs to keep it at the right temperature.

His results came back marginally below average, but we were told that it's nothing to worry about and possibly something to do with the time taken to get it there.

Something I found quite interesting, and had only read about before is that after a few minutes the consistency of sperm changes to help it on it's way towards its destination. It becomes more watery. Well, I'd never seen this 'in the flesh' before, but it's true - it goes really watery. I couldn't help wondering what the driver in the car next to us at the traffic lights thought we were looking at though :p
