    *sigh*

    I hate having PCOS

I have PCOS too but have two children, The first took 6 years (and a lot of medical help) to conceive, and second was dead easy. We've been ttc the third for 14 months now (sadly my hopes last month were false ones). However it does just go to show that PCOS is not a complete barrier to conception. Mine was bad, and I wasn't menstruating at all or ovulating for several years despite copious quantities of clomiphene, etc, and surgery to drill one of the ovaries.

    Hi all.
OH had a bit of a flip out earlier on. First of all when his man juice (can't think of nicer way to put it!) was in the pot he was most upset that it didn't seem very much - anyone got anything to suggest about how much is "right"?.
Also, when we dropped it up to the path lab, he had to hand it over to who said was "no more than a spotty teenager" and it made him worry the guy was going to mess it up.
So he's basically got himself really upset, and now he's really worrying. Our doc isn't in on Friday, so we'll have the results Monday at 4. I think I'm going to spending the weekend working hard at distracting him from thinking about it. He's told me he feels sick thinking about it. Poor love, he does panic.

  • Hello all,

I'll try not to waffle on too much... I'm 21, DH 23.

Came off the pill at the end of march, fell pregnant a month or so later, baby would've been due 16th January. Had a miscarriage at 7 weeks and the bleeding had all stopped by 3rd June. Had gone for early scan on 2nd June and they said that there was no sign of it being there, everything had gone back to 'normal', lining was thin etc.

Only BD'd about 4 times :o in last month, Sorry if TMI!! Boobs have felt abit tender and heavy so I did a test on Monday and it was positive. It was a tesco own brand test, and it came up with a thick line. Last time I tested a day after my period was due and the line was really faint, but this time its really dark.

I haven't got a clue 'how' pregnant I am, do the cheapie tests work at 4 weeks?

    Help please! x

Havdav39 - Last time I had a faint line cos it was so early, I waited another week and it was a lot darker - good luck!

    Jiblets,
Having a small quantity of "man juice" as you put it shows that you BD often!:j If you dont do it for a while there's more there.
    ps good luck x

I know. I'm not down yet don't worry. Only been trying since January and as I was on the pill for 8 years I wasn't expecting to conceive by now. It's just annoying not being able to predict AF's visit etc. Thanks though.

    x

I have not read the background here but there is a way to predict it. If you want to find out if and when you are ovulating you just have to take your temperature every morning before getting out of bed, talking or doing anything at all. You should use a basal body thermometer. You can download a chart from the internet and mark your temperature on there,if you are ovulating you will see that your temperature will rise after ovulation ( this is called the thermal shift) and stay high until the day that AF arrives when it drops back down. If you take note of your CM you will notice that after ovulation it quickly dries up. I am charting and have used it for years as birth control. If you are not ovulating then there will be no thermal shift which means that your temperatures will go up and down. I think that there is a site called ovusoft that has software that you can download for free for a trial period of 14 days. I hope that this helps you.

Can I ask how people first approached the subject of 'being ready' to start TTC?

Basically me and OH got together and agreed we would both like children but not for a while, 4 years later and I feel completely ready for a baby, and I feel we are in a good enough position financially etc to start a family.

It hasn't been mentioned for years and I just don't know how to approach the whole subject with him. Has any one else been in the same position?

Good luck to every one ttc xx

Wildt, I think there's not much of a way to do it other than come straight out with it. Depending on your circumstances, you could wait for some lovely encounter with a tiny person, then say how good you think OH is with kids....

    HayDav and Loopy and xredwebx:

A line means pg however faint and whatever the cost of the test, false positives are rare. The best time to test is when AF is due as test will be most accurate. The article below gives a good summary of when to test, early response kits and disadvantages of testing early.

    http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/whenpregnancytest.html

Reagarding the cost I think with the expensive vs cheap ones you are paying for extra packaging, ease of use, digital technology to interpret the results for you and brand name.

Regardless of whether a test calls itself "early response" or not it is the level at which it will detect HCG that determines how early it can pick up BFP.

e.g. I have 3 for £1 Sensatest (Poundland) which tests at 25 IU/mL which according to the article above would make it capable of picking up BFP at 6-8 days after ov. So even though instruction say to test at AF due date it could work much earlier. Really for any test though a BFN before AF due is meaningless.

I am curious (not having bought one) what level the "early" ones test at???

Well, after 3 months without AF appearing and feeling sick etc, I decided I couldn't wait any longer and got a test today.... BFN for me :( I knew it would just be my body playing tricks on me
Guess my periods haven't regulated as much as I thought ahh well... back to losing more weight it is for me lol
