    Afternoon all.
My new, nice doctor rang me today. After making an appointment to see the practice manager after receiving a stupid letter from the doctor I had complained about I seem to have put the fear of god into the practice manager. My doc poilitely asked if I would tell her why I'd asked for the meeting. When I told her she said that no, the doctor hadn't followed the practice's policy on complaints and had in fact sent the letter out of his own accord without clearing it with anyone else. She said she could understand why I was upset and that Dr Evil was away for the week. Basically she's told me that she'll take care of it and speak to him which is fine by me. I trust her to do it, and that's all I wanted - just for them to acknowledge that he's done wrong and to speak to him seriously about it.
So, result. That's good enough for me and I'm glad I kicked up a bit of a fuss. Don't let anybody make you feel like you're being silly ladies, I'm so much happier now I have a doctor that takes me seriously.

    hi jiblets,

i am so pleased that it looks like your new doctor is giving your complaint the proper attention.

i am not good wtih doctors at the best of times and one older lady doctor had me in tears. i should have complained about her but never did. thankfully i now have the choice of two great male doctors.

i was going to say i really dont 'do' doctors but that just sounds sooooo wrong :D

can anyone help???... i know i have read on here before about people using the dip stick kind of tests and these are the ones i have. unfortunately they did not come with a cup to use. what have others used instead?

    thanks
I use a washed out yoghurt pot (one of the individual sized ones). While I know intellctually that urine is generally sterile and anyway washing it properly means that even if something were in there it'd be gone, and etc... emotionally I'm a bit  at the idea of using something I will then drink out of.
I took a test yesterday, and am cautiously optimisitc: there were 3 lines  (the control line, a very faint one where it should be if BFP, and one along the edge between the "plasticy bit" and the area where the "one if BFN, two if BFP" bit is... has anyone else had this result? (I'm using the Access Diagnostic tests) I acutally tested twice, and both times set a timer (well, first time set the timer a bit late, 2nd time set it as soon as I put the stick flat)

I'll test again tomorow morning, hopefully if it IS a BFP, it'll be a bit more clear!

Today is CD31, so I tested on day 30. My last two have been 29 and 34 days (these are the only normal ones since coming off the pill), so I *think* it's an ok time to test

If I was less impatient, I'd wait until Tues or Weds to test again, but :D

I know what you mean tho re waiting sissmith. If you got a faint line in test window then its a +tive. Why not get a digital one and then theres no disputing it.........!

Ten of these dip-sticks are cheaper than one digital :D
(Just doing my bit to be moneysaving?)

That said, if after CD 34 I'm still confused, I might just get a digital one-- where's the cheapest? (or just go to the doctor...)

When I was pregnant with DD it was a very faint line and when I phoned up the manufacturers they said no matter how faint it was if there was a line then it was positive. I had to get a blood test in the end as even the doctors test was faint.

I agree with scottishchick. My last pos was a very very faint line and I called my doctor just for advice about whether to believe it or not, he said if I have all the lines I should, the control line etc then yes, its a pos. I done another couple over the course of a few days and the line did get stronger.

If the lines are as shown in the diagram on the leaflet I'd say you got a pos :T Do another one in a day or two and let us know.

Congrats Chickpea! I'd be gutted if I tested +ive then went to the Dr and he wouldn't test me. I'd want it official ASAP.

    Thanks everyone for the congrats!

And tell us about how annoying doctos can be...mine told me to come back in 2 weeks - then when I went to book an appointment, I found out he's away for over a month! So I'm going to see a different doctor tomorrow. I've blabbed to a few folk already - and they keep asking when it's due and I'm just sort of guessing March - I'd be happier to have a doctor tell me sth more definite. My last CD1 was 17 May, so by my calculatins, it's around 7 weeks. Early days are a bit nerve-wracking - until you have scans to check it's not ectopic or anything. My friend just lost one at 13 weeks, so there are risks.

Then again, it's not worth stressing over things you can't influence, is it?

Good luck everyone - there's lots of baby dust floating around, I hope you catch some!
