    Hi jiblets.

Glad you saw a decent doctor this time who took you seriously. I wish you all the best for your tests.

Nothing to report here. I am fed up with it all. The highs of symptom spotting (which I know I shouldn't do) and being late combined with the brutal lows of AF arriving are really doing my head in now. I should be used to it after all this time and not let it bother me.....most of the time I am ok with it.....but lately I'm not ok with it.

Oh well......have to keep plodding along....

Best wishes and good luck everyone

Oh Shelly matey, sorry to hear that you're having a downer at the mo. I think we can all understand how you feel. I'm on day 23 of my cycle, and I'm sure that I'm about to come on too. It's annoying as we all hope that we don't have to see AF, and then when it's late we think oh yay!......only to be greeted with a late AF. Grrrrr!
    Anyway, onwards and upwards!

  • Morning ladies,

Woke up this morning thinking 'got to do a test, got to do a test' I did manage to abstain for today but I needed to give myself a stern talking to!

I am only on CD23 and I have another week to go before AF is due (if in fact my cycle is 30 days as I suspect) I keep telling myself not to obsess about it but I can't help myself :o

jiblets, glad you seem a bit brighter, that doc sounds like an angel after the last shower.

shelly - chin up - haven't you got a hospital appointment soon? at least that will be moving forward.

Just to amuse you all (because I have no-one else to tell!) I think I might have given the game away yesterday with.....wait for it.....no other than my Hubby's EX-WIFE!!!! Classic error - it could only happen to me!
I was dropping my step-son off at his mums, went in for a coffee and her parents were there along with her sister and 6 month old Hermione, who is gorgeous and loves a cuddle and of course I couldn't resist
So I am all 'come and have a cuddle then gorgeous little girl' and as granny hands her over grandad says 'it's catching you know' so I say 'is it now?' and blush. Ex-Wife winks at me and says 'I'll put your coffee down here, you are looking so comfortable there' cue more blushes. At least hubby wasn't there to see my reaction or even worse, react himself!!
Why oh why can't I react normally? Ex-Wifes family have always teased me / questioned me about getting pregnant, I really should have been ready for it!
Suppose I had better not be telling hubby that his ex might not be so shocked when/if we announce we are pg!!!

Hi angeleyes. I think the sticks do tend to be pretty good, although some are easier to read than others. Don't panic, you may well just be ovulating at a different time than you would imagine. Ovulation would normally occur 14 days before your period, but there are women who's ovulation can be at a completely different time (even during your period so my doc has recently informed me!).
Also, if you've been ttc for 3 months what contraception were you using before that? Would your previous contraception mean that your body hasn't settled down yet.
Hope it all works out for you. I'm sure your doctor would want to see you if you really think you might not be ovulating. Good luck!

Ooh me again. I think I spend my life on this thread.
My husband and I have been holding off getting a dog (even though we would dearly love one) because we worry that the dog would get jealous when the baby arrives. Now that it's getting near the one year mark without a BFP we're wondering if we should just get on and get one. We could be in this position for years...
What do you lot think/do re dogs...?

  • Hey jiblets,

I think it depends what kind of dog. I know several couples who broke their hearts when they had to get rid of their bigger dogs, 2 because they couldn't be trusted around a pg woman and 2 because the dog got depressed when baby came along. I suppose the latter problem would be the same for any kind of dog?

If you bring a dog into the home with thoughts that there may be a baby further down the line (ie not let it have the run of the house, all the attention etc) then I think you should go for it. You may find that the exercise/relaxation a dog brings makes you and OH relax...which may well lead to a BFP!!!

Jiblets - we moved into our new house in the November (99) got a puppy (Kes) in feb found out i was pg about 3 weeks later...dog was fine she was an alsation and as gentle as anything, however I did find myself putting her out in the garden a lot which couldn't of been nice for her. I just found she was so big and hairy and with a first baby I was worried all the time. When baby number two came aong I didn't worry so much but she had become accustomed to being outside and used to constantly whine to be out there so she really ended up being an outside dog.

The dog we have now (Jasper) is 100% an indoor dog, he hates going outside even to the toilet!!!! he is a lab x newf so again very big and even hairier. But we have had him a little while now and I know that his temprement is amazing so i am not in the slightest bit concerned about a new baby arriving with him already here.

However having said that...If you decide to go ahead and get a puupy and then fall pg very soon, it will be a hell of a lot of hard work and stress added to a new baby, you just don't need. BUT if you decide to wait until after you fall pg I would then be inclined to wait until baby is at least 2-3yrs old before getting a dog.

I'm sorry, I probably haven't helped you at all. Just thought I would share..

Let us know what you decide
