I stopped taking the injection in December and was on the pill for a couple of months to try to regulate my periods a little before we TTC. Periods are pretty regular now but was a couple of days late so did a test but was a BFN. AF arrived today. My question is, we are going on holiday in 7 weeks time and can't face having AF while I have to wear a bikini. If I start taking the pill now will it stop them for when I'm away? The pill I have is the one that you take every day without a break. How long will it take to become regular again after we come back from hols. We are going to seriously TTC after holiday not like before when it was a case of if it happens, it happens.

Big hug jiblets1 - DH wants us to wait a little while longer before we TTC but I honestly don't... I want to start NOW - it's silly but every minute that ticks by takes me further from holding a baby - how daft is that!
I take great care at not swooning too much in baby shops and avoid mothercare like the plague as it's too much! But even Matalan or Tesco is prooving hard work! I've had to resort to looking up crochet patterns for babies so at least I have something a little babyish in the house... he can't possibly object to that as I need to start now as it takes time ;)

Scottish chick I'd check with your doc - that's what I did but I gave myself a bit more time than 7 weeks... I wanted to time my period very carefully around my wedding and honeymoon so we worked out the schedule for gradually bringing the cycle round so it fitted in :)

  • (((HUGS))) jiblets - we would all have struggled with going through the kind of day you have had (thank god I don't know anyone who has a baby shower!)

It does seem like every day brings another reminder of how you are not pg. We had my step son over for the weekend as usual, which normally doesn't bother me (we get on really well) but this weekend he seemed to serve as a reminder that DH IS fertile (or at least he was 9 years ago) and if there are any problems they are likely to be with me.

By the way - is anyone else going through this with a partner who has 'done it before'? DH is quite conscious of it and would never say that his ex-w dealt with things this way or that happened to her...but there is still something in me that sometimes wonders if it is all as exciting when it is not your first...

I am being completely mean there - DH is as excited (if not more so) than I am about us TTC. What a cow I am :o

Since I posted 2 hours ago my best mate has just been round to tell me that she is pregnant. Now I am so happy for them but I'm also a bit tearful. Am I being selfish in thinking that it should have been me? I feel horrible.

It's normal, don't beat yourself up (visualise beating up her smug, pregnant, happy face instead if it'll make you feel better.) Just joking, of course!

Although take it from me, once you've been trying for a while, like over 3 years, the jealousy is all-encompassing. I physically can't walk into baby clothes shops anymore - it's like an invisible forcefield won't let me cross the entrance.

Wait until she's pregnant AGAIN, and you haven't had one yet - then you'll know what jealousy really is..!

Jiblets1 I really feel for you. Hugs for you. When you go to Dr's don't let them give you a brush off.

I've posted before with how difficult it is for me to deal with my friends and their good news. Scottishchick and jiblets all I can do is offer Hugs and kisses!:kisses3: Jiblets I know it's really tough for you at the minute and i just hope you have more luck with the doctor.

I've just come back from an afternoon with my friend and her 4 month old. He' s so cute and OH did a 'flying baby' routine and song (sorry you had to be there), anyway I got quite tearful on the way back. Even though we've only been trying for a few months it is so frustrating.

Unfortunatley I don't think there is anything any of us can say or do to make these feelings go away. At least we know we will be truely grateful when we do get PG. (positive thinking - it's the way forward!)

Oh and ....Jiblets as far as it goes with worrying what they were thinking (the ooh's and aahh's) I'm sure they are Jealous of you. Full nights sleep, no baby sick, lots less housework, never been through labour...The list is endless. I'm sure that secrectly, although none would ever give up the children, they all wish they could just go out without another thought and all the other things us without children can do!

Not sure whether that will help or not but just another way of thinking.
