long term the uk might be better in or out but short term (which could well be 2 years or 20 years) it will almost certainly be bad0

Whats so compelling is no one really knows which is best. Pros and cons to both.
There is miss information from both sides.
The remainers say if we left we could cause a world economic crash - this doesnt quite fit in with their other point that the uk is reliant on EU to survive - surely if we are big enough to cause such a mess, we are big enough to look after ourselves.
Leavers also dont want free movment but want to be like iceland etc - who all sign up to free movment to do trade ! We would want trade so would have to accept free movement wouldnt we.0 -

From the person who started this thread stating that Turkey was joining the EU later this year, that's a bit rich!0 -

no logic for that conclusion at all
increased trade with the rest of the world a good thing
fewer immigrants a good thing
lower house price in the SE a good thing
better access to health services a good thing

Missbiggles.
Apologises I was not trying to give any miss information. I simply read that turkey was being fast tracked into the EU because they have helped with the migrant crises. I have seen june and october dates touted, but either way my question was simply what would the inpact be on the uk assuming it gets signed off on the dates touted.
Regardless of date, i do beleive it will happen sooner rathet than later, as cameron and merkel have opened agreed to fight for it.
Do you think it will be good or bad or neautral for uk economy?
I hope mactavish is correct in that we benefit on trade, and dont suffer on immigration due to it making no difference to our borders. Under these conditions i think its a great deal.0 -

You didn't ask a question, you made a totally incorrect statement into your thread title, thereby adding to the body of misinformation, which many people absorb subliminally. There are probably people now who've browsed down the thread titles when looking for New Posts and who've read yours and taken it on board as a fact because they've read it on the internet.0 -

I'd imagine Cyprus will block Turkey's entry into the EU, until it gets a massive quid pro quo which will take a long time to arrange. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0

if the prosperity of the UK is largely due to the EU
is the dreadful economic state of Greece, Spain, Cyprus, Portugal, Italy etc largely due to the EU too?
Now, now, Clapton, you are not allowed to ask questions like that. Hamish won't like it (or, if my experience is anything to go by, answer it.)
