    As Turkey is apparently not a safe country (along with all the other countries between Turkey and France) is it wise for it to join the EU? ;)

    You mean should it open its borders to those EU born terrorists? Difficult one. I think they have enough problems.

    Somehow I don't think Turkey has agreed to get out of Cyprus, so why the hell should they be allowed in the EU?

    One word: blackmail. :cool::mad:

    And to add, the fact that mad Merkel is suing a German comedian for 'insulting' Erdogan is extremely alarming. Another reason to vote for Brexit.

    I presume you mean Cyprus, although I have been exceptionally busy this year and could have missed a minor invasion.

    Jesus and that is after only one glass of wine, you know what, I knew there was something wrong with that post, but I couldn't figure out what it was. Thanks.

  • If its a simple equation of more the merrier and the more = more income
    For the UK why dont we just let anyone join? For example Ukraine are next apparantly. I find it hard to think there wont be some sort of impact on our public services, but having been rearrsured by mctavish that it will have a net benefit its hard to say no to more money in the coffers

    Turkey is part of the European Union Customs Union (excluding agricultural goods) which means free trade within the union but without free movement of people.

    That might be what the UK is heading for?
  • Free trade is good. Its the main reason it was set up. Its just its grown to include much more, like free movment of people, and laws made abroad - but if we can get the free trade and added boost to the uk economy without the free movement i say its a good thing.

    if the prosperity of the UK is largely due to the EU
    is the dreadful economic state of Greece, Spain, Cyprus, Portugal, Italy etc largely due to the EU too?
