£4.30 in asda on hot chocolate, two bags of peppers and some yogurts. 60p in morrisons on two lots of YS rice noodles and two packs of fresh chives. £2.19 in aldi on creme fraiche, bread rolls and eggs. Feel a bit guilty spending June's money in May but my month runs 27 th to 27th. Me till feels naughty though :o

NSD today. Had to improvise breakfast. I made porridge but milk was off - 2pts wasted Have some almond milk open so will use that tonight and tomorrow and see if I can hold out until Friday or Sunday if I am creative

Had two coupons for Mr M's so was able to split my shop. £8 off when you spent £60 and £4 off when you spent £35 so managed to save £12! An additional £10.74 was spent in B&M so today's total was £116.99. I'll update my signature shortly.

    Ooohh,can I re-join?
I was here last year for a few months (may even have been 2014!),but then slipped off the wagon.
We have been out of our home for the last 5 months while we had a house extension done.We were staying with inlaws',so have contributed to a grocery budget, but, until this morning,I had not done a grocery shop for my family since the week before Christmas :eek::eek:.
Now,with being back home,I need to get back to a serious budget, some meal planning, and money-saving.
We are a family of 2 adults,4 children (ages7-14).I have usually shopped at Tesco before, but, with the budget in mind,my idea now is to shop as much as possible in ALDI/LIDL,with top-ups as necessary in bigger supermarkets.
    My resolutions are to :
    budget
    meal-plan better than I do
limit visits to supermarkets-none of this nipping to the shops for 2-3items every couple of days, and coming back with no change from £20 :o.
When I was here before,I think I tried to budget for £200/month,and almost always went over (to about £300).This challenge I would like to make the budget £250,but accept that, especially while building up supplies again (having been out of house so long),it might be higher.
Am about to go out again now to buy the things I couldn't find/forgot to get at ALDI,then I shall report back with my spends so far.

    Hi everyone

Please can I go down for £300 for June? I made a mess of May and have to really get a grip as building work starts here in the next month or so and we'll need every single penny, so food budget has to earn itself! There are only 4 of us and a cat, so doable, but I've been MIA on these boards for a while, and consequently fallen by the wayside. :rotfl:

I have not spent a penny today, so my first NSD in AGES!!

Thanks to those who man this thread - even though I rarely post, I read a lot. :)

Evening all and welcome to all the new peoples and returners :hello:

Good luck with the June challenge one and all and don't forget to ask if you need to know anything - there's usually someone on here that can help or point you in the right direction ;)

Great news that you're back home saver-upper and back with us :D

I finished May at £177.88/£200 so that's another £22.12 added to my bulk buy account. I hope to go to the butcher on Friday so will be digging into that a bit :o

Didn't go to shops today so that's our first NSD for June :j

Hope you all have a thrifty Thursday

    Right,I am back.
Grocery spend today: ALDI £80.37,and ASDA £29.26 (did not count the new pillows I had bought to replace the ones that became dirty with 6 months of builders' dust, nor daughter's Pearl Drops-£6 -certainly won't be buying that for a long time).
So total grocery spend for today was £109.63/300.

Hi, kinda new n I'd like to join please! :o

I have no idea what I usually spend monthly but may was excessive. I have myself, fiance and 3kids (age 1,3,5) to feed: I went on my online banking where I'd previously set a grocery target of £175 for the month (possibly set before baby came along) and discovered that I'd exceeded that by £225 in may  and my partner did alot of grocery shopping too which isn't included in that total! I imagine we spent around £700 which is insane and far beyond what I think we should be spending!

I'm going to aim for £175 for the month but may need to adjust that if it turns out to be too unrealistic, but I genuinely think it's doable.

    NSD today- good start! X
