@agrinnall The affair has no consequences for me.I am not the married one here. I was simply a willing participant. That is her problem, she can deal with that.

When the affair started I did question how this could affect her marriage and she told me to leave her to worry about that. I have to include the affair started because of her advances.

clearly it does as you've just been suspended! And the affair started because you reciprocated her advances, it's not all down the her. Takes two to tango no?

If this is true, I just hope there are no kids involved.

It won't be swept under the carpet, any reference will say you resigned while under investigation. You have just learnt there are consequences for your actions and I hope they are severe. You have been complicit in a marriage breaking up but you seem to think you are blameless.
  • You keep contradicting yourself. On the one hand you say your promotion was justified and on the other that it was due to the affair and you'll never get a similar job. Which is it?

I get the feeling none of this is true tbh.

Almost certainly, but he could at least be consistent.

The overtime was a reward for my excellent work ethic.

Is that the excellent work ethic inbetween the sheets ?

The business trips were legitimate. I was chosen to attend with her, although we did use them as a method to be alone together without her husband becoming suspicious.

I was due a promotion anyway. The overtime was a reward for my excellent work ethic.

Please don't attempt to justify this.

    W.

The consequence for you could involve a husband with a cudgel. Deal with that.

  • I think your boss is in a lot more trouble than you are.

Play it cool, say you don't think that you were given any favouritism and that your boss said it was all ok.

Obviously your colleagues will find out so things will be difficult going forward, but wait it out 6 months and then move sideways to another job in the same field.

Charming. What a catch you must be.

Head Office obviously take a dim view of your activities because they have suspended you.

If other colleagues were not promoted or allowed overtime, whereas you were because of your personal relationship, and one of them has raised a grievance then, by your own admissions on here, they probably have a pretty solid case. They have effectively been discriminated against, to your benefit.

Try and learn - if you are able - from this. And, if you are not a sordid little troll, then I hope to goodness that there are no children to suffer from your grubby affair.
