Under investigation for improper conduct. Should I resign?

  • It is not criminal. The business trips require two members of staff, minimum. I was chosen as I said, for the affair. That is an internal matter. Not a criminal matter.

You have so much to learn, and I'm sure it will be a very swift lesson.

I'll try to make this clear:

You were chosen because of the affair. Company money was spent on your affair. You in essence stole money from your employer.

    An 'internal'# matter. That's hilarious.

    Sorry, is it holiday time?
  • @agrinnall The affair has no consequences for me. I am not the married one here. I was simply a willing participant. That is her problem, she can deal with that.

When the affair started I did question how this could affect her marriage and she told me to leave her to worry about that. I have to include the affair started because of her advances.

How is any of that relevant in any way whatsoever?

The affair will likely mean you lose your job (and by proxy your home) and could end up with a criminal record.

    Mustve been worth it...
  • Company money might have been spent to keep the affair covert but work was completed on every trip. We were on the trips to work and I can prove that.

Even if all you say is true, the situation stinks to your colleagues and higher ups, you have to convince them otherwise.
  • @Guest101 I will be devestated at losing the job. 50k OTE is beyond anything I could ever expect. Will I get another job which pays like that? Doubt it.

The reason I'm thinking of resigning is damage limitations. Resign, get another job and sweep this under the carpet.

    What was your job title?

1: So you agree you got a job you aren't qualified for because of the affair? Doesn't mean you didn't do the job, but as it's beyond anything you could expect - suggests you got it because of the affair.
2: How will you get another job? What do you think the reference will say? Here's a rough idea: "Mr X was dismissed from the company for gross misconduct, as the matter relates to theft from the company and is being investigated by the police, it would be inappropriate to comment further."
