car lease company sent wrong car

Go on to contracthireandleasing.com and compare deals on the Lounge model with the same variables (term, months upfront etc). That'll give you a benchmark for what the correct cost would be.
The car belongs to the leasing company at all times and most leasing contracts will have terms that (indirectly) cover this sort of thing. They're under no obligation to do anything other than swap for the right model.
What happens to the current car is the dealers issue not theirs, so their motivation to negotiate an alternative arrangement for you to keep the current one, is down to reputation and goodwill only. Which limits your options.
As for the insurance, the REG may not have populated on their systems yet as its a brand new car. So it the insurance person may have completed the vehicle fields manually.
Keep it and cough up. It's only 20 quid.0 -
Im guessing £20 a month is the normal price difference.
If your going to pay it to keep the car then get that insurance updated ASAP.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
My wife spoke to the insurance company, it is insured as a POP, so it will need to be changed. an increase of £120 for now as she is still a learner, then an extra £200 ish when she passes.
will keep you informed what happens next !!0 -
so we leased a new car for our daughter, gave it to her (balloons and all) as a surprise 18th birthday present. She was and is still so excited. we had the little black box installed from insurance company, and all was well.
6 weeks on, i get a phone call today from the leasing company saying the wrong car was delivered and the one we have has approx £2000 worth of extras on it ( the next model up).
They re asking for another £20 per month or will replace the car with the original model.
my daughter is horrified, she doesn't want to give the car back, it will cost us to have the black box removed and refitted, also insurance admin charges. The lease guy said it was completely the dealers fault. can anyone advise my best options ? Obviously i think the dealer should accept their mistake and leave the car with my daughter, after all if they take it back they can only sell it as a used car now.
thanks
So if they'd sent you a model down you'd be happy to accept their mistake?0 -

The differences between the 500 Pop and the 500 Lounge include air conditioning, alloy wheels, a full-length sunroof, electric mirrors, different interior trim, a touch-screen stereo with remote controls on the leather steering wheel.

Can you HONESTLY say you didn't notice any of that, or even suspect that it was suspiciously well-equipped for a base-level car...? Your wife certainly did.
You have been offered a good compromise - a swap back to what you should have had, or pay half the difference. That increase is £20/month over the course of the lease - three years? £720. How much are you paying in total over the three years for the lease of the car?
I would pay £20 a month just for the aircon alone.0 -

The funny thing is when I did Insurance quotes recently every model of 500 I checked had the same Premium with the only difference being the model and not the engine.
Or did you fail to notice it was a different engine aswell?0 -
Yes they would have.
They would have Insured it via the Reg No.
It all depends on how long the car has had a reg no. Quite often the car is registered and the system doesn't have time to catch up so you have to inform the insurance company of the model details yourself. It's definately worth the OP checking to see the right model has been insured.0 -
Does nobody actually read these threads? The OP has already said that it's ensured as a Pop and the premium is an extra £120.0
