Why would they give a balanced perspective? They believe that the EU is a good thing. Do you expect the Leave campaign to give a balanced perspective also?

If they were spending £9 Million of taxpayer funds, yes.

The Government of this country is saying that there is a strong economic case for remaining in the EU.

Either they're lying/wrong (in which event, the sooner after the poll we get rid of the current PM the better), or they're right, in which case they'd be negligent not to put the full weight of Government behind backing the economically preferable option.

    curious

if before the next general election, the government decided that a Tory admin would be best for the country in the future, would they then be justified in putting the full weight of the government machine in backing the Tory election case?

The vote leave campaign has now utterly gone bananas.

Having lost the economic argument for brexit, they're now going 100% for playing the man.
Personally, I think it will backfire.:)
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

Why did you think it would pan out any differently to the Scottish Indy ref?

The bile about "Westminster" and rabid Scots still goes on in the threads on Scottish independence.

If mud slinging didn't work, they wouldn't do it so much.

That picture is mild compared to what you see on Facebook!

Most people I speak to are either undecided or fervently in favour of Brexit. I think we'll end up leaving the EU.

As far as this leaflet campaign is concerned, I'm quite angry that the government is crying poverty and cutting benefits left and right, even to disabled people, yet can suddenly find £8M down the side of the sofa.

I think that money could be used for much better things, and I suspect a lot of other people will think so too. A few waverers may be swayed into voting for a brexit on the back of this waste of public finances.

If Her Majesties Loyal Opposition did not oppose Brexit would it still be justified to spend tax money?

Would it be reasonable to spend govt money on a different political issue say 'Why the Govt thinks reforming the benefits system and introducing Universal Credit is for the good of the country' by having the civil service publish a leaflet to every household in the UK 10 weeks before the next general election?
    I think....

The picture seems to include a steel worker who is clearly not Chinese (the one with the safety hat).

...so I'd say it was fake ;). China makes all the world's steel now , doesn't it?! :)

Are there any up and coming programs/radio shows etc that give the facts about both sides? It would be great to hear unbiased information....
