she is already confused enough without any more incorrect info and conjecture!

The ehc fusion boiler is basically an electric system boiler. There is no heat store and the output from the boiler is fed via motorised valves to the radiators and the optional hot water storage tank as required:

We are going round in circles! Your daytime use TV etc(probably about 1kWh) is irrelevant. Your daytime peak use is caused by heating/hot water or other flats 'connected' to your supply.

As stated a couple of time above it is easy to rule out the other flats.

Then the only other realistic possibility is that despite your heat/hot water settings being set to E10 off-peak timings they are registering on your peak meter.

Again it is very simple to check if that is happening. check your peak meter frequently during the day and it will become apparent.

Just to clarify and shout at me if you will (if i've done something wrong).............

took readings at 11pm last and turned everything including boiler OFF went to bed got up at 6.30 checked readings and they were perfect, exactly the same......... so wee fairies are not sucking on my juice cables :

As you stared readings(plural) I assume that means you checked both peak and off-peak readings. If so that rules out supplying other flats.

Now you have to check if any heating/hot water is registering on your peak meter.

yes checked both peak and off peak..........................

and to do that .........i need to

Turn off the boiler and heating completely. Then a few hours later, when you are on PEAK rate, turn everything off and then turn the boiler and heating back on. If the lower LED flashes, power is being used and it demonstrates that your devices are not wired correctly''

    is this correct?

Right decided to do the check just now as I am currently on Peak tariff time...............

Turned everything off put boiler back on and put heating back on too,
    bottom light on meter flashing............................

so this means I am wired up incorrectly (not me personally but then again it has been said before :)

You really are still very confused. Why is it that after living in this property for over a year, you still don't have a clue how your heating system works and therefore how you should use it correctly?

If you did understand your system, you would know that E10 is the wrong tariff and unsuitable for your installation. The idiots at the council who specify electric boiler wet heating systems such as yours, obviously do not take the running costs into consideration, as they do not have to pay!

The check meter should have proved to you by now, that you are in fact actually using the units that you are being charged for. It will only show the total kWh used, that is the extortionate rate 1 and the rip-off rate 2 units added together.

Your installation will use rate 1 or rate 2 units depending on when you program the heating/hot water to come on. It is not restricted to using only the rip-off rate 2 units.

When you understand how your installation is designed to work, then you should easily be able to check if it is actually working correctly as it was designed to by doing basic simple checks like feeling the pipes etc.

Is the pump circulating the water around the system correctly?

Are the motorised valves opening and closing correctly under the control of the programer, room stat and hot water tank stat?

What temperature is the hot water tank stat set to and is this stat actually working correctly?

If the boilers flow temperature is set less than the recommended 65 degrees, then your hot water tank may never be satisfied and therfore always be calling for heat whenever your programmer enables the boiler to operate.

If you are incapable of understanding your installation, most electricians will not understand it either because a similar S Plan system powered by a 'gas system boiler' would be installed and maintained by a RGI registered gas installer, who does understand exactly how the S Plan system works.

It doesn't matter how many electricians you get to look at your system, if they do not understand this heating installation, they will also be non the wiser.

Yes you are right I am still very confused about the system but please also know that I am not an idiot!

I have been living here for over a year and as the system was explained to me by the council i have been using it correctly....boiler set to 65 my heating and hot water are timed to come on in the cheaper tariff and even at that most of the time i dont have heating on during the day

me not being an electrican or plumber how am i supposed to know if the pump is circulating around the system properly or if the motorised valves are opening and closing as they should......

I am not incapable of understanding anything but i would assume that a qualified electrician such as from SSE or local council should be able to know what the system is doing correctly or not doing correctly.............

I came on to this forum for advice on how to eliminate different scenarios that could be causing a problem, so forgive me for trying out things that people have suggested!

in all fairness I am a housewife and not qualified in electrics.......

Silly me, I thought that you wanted to get to the bottom of your high electricity usage.

If you understand how your system works, then it is very easy to do simple basic checks e.g. feel the pipe before and after each motorised valve and check if they are working correctly.

You seem to just want to blame somebody else e.g. your supplier, rather than learn how it works yourself.
