I'm the same, my family used to call me a camel.

I have to drink a lot after my hospital treatment, otherwise I get dehydrated and have the most awful headaches that last a couple of days. I drink sugar free volvic touch of fruit, if I drink a 1.5 litre bottle a day for a few days afterwards I'm fine. Plain water though, forget it. When I was in hospital with gallstones they wouldn't let me leave until I'd drunk a full jug of water, forcing it down was horrible.

Plain water makes me gag! Got you gave some cordial in with it,

You've hit the nail on the head here. I would not go for a meal if I could only afford one course. I might choose to only have one course,( though usually have 2-3) but not being able to make that choice would make the whole thing a little joyless for me.
I would quite honestly prefer yo stay at home.

THANK GOODNESS. someone agrees with me

I just find it hard to consume a lot of liquid. I try to increase it, but maybe last one day, two at the most.

My husband is always drinking some sort of drink or another, and sometimes in a restaurant (talking more chain restaurants here rather than posh ones) I won't have a drink and will just have a couple of sips of his.

*ponders* does that make me po faced and make people think I must be depriving myself? :p

I think it's terribly sad that someone feels like they can't go out for a meal without stuffing their faces with 3 courses and spending shed loads of money.

I have been out many a time to Wetherspoons with friends who have spent a fiver on their meal and a soft drink, and we have had a fabulous time.

I can't understand anyone who would say that you can't enjoy yourself without spending a lot of money. It's quite sad actually.
    You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:

What I would think is why doesnt she have a proper drink instead of pinching his?I would hate it if someone did that to me, (in fact I remember a friend of mine doing that, saying she didn't want a whole drink. Her husband replied 'Well I do!,).

Well you'd be wrong in thinking that because A, I often don't want a whole drink, just literally a sip or two, and B, my husband is fine with it and he usually just tells me to have a drink of his as why waste money/drink when I don't really want a whole drink. If I wanted a drink for myself then I'd order one.

This is day time usually though as night time I would have an alcoholic drink.

As someone else said earlier, who knew it was such a minefield about eating out, getting judged for what you do or don't do! You can't do anything without some judgemental folk thinking you're either tight or depriving yourself!

I am with Georgie here! Me and my wife do this sometimes. She will have a small glass of wine, and I have a pint of beer (at a meal,) and she has some of my beer, as she likes a few sips with her meal, but doesn't want a whole pint, or even a half one.

Similarly, when we go to Maccy D's as we do once a month, I have fries and chicken nuggets and a coffee, and she has fries and a bottle of water. She has half her water, and lets me have the rest.

    It's called sharing.

    It's what couples do.

I would find it hard to be in a relationship where my wife said 'You're not having any of MINE! It's MINE!'

Heck no... I like a relationship where we share...

Georgie, you and your other half sound like me and my lady wife. You share, and give and take. :)

    Exactly Peter. :)

Talking of Maccy D's, my husband will get a meal and I'll just get a burger as I don't want the whole chips or a drink. Then I'll just have a few chips.

Well I had my lunch out with my kids and my parents. Mum and dad used some McDonalds vouchers. I sent my son off to subway with a fiver. My daughter and I shared a bowl of noodles (not sharing cutlery) and bag of Spring rolls. We shared a bottle of coke and my parents shared one of those huge buckets of Coke that McDs sell. And nobody fretted about what or how much anybody else was eating or drinking.
