We share things too! We have shared a meal tonight, of course share things' to me that is different to saying you don't want antything and then having someone else's. Each to their own.

You're getting me wrong. I don't want a whole drink because I'll no doubt waste it and I don't like wasting food and drink. However, I want a couple of sips after I've finished eating my meal, and my husband is fine with it and even suggests it sometimes.

Different from not ordering myself something but then demanding that I have half of somebody else's.

I somehow think that we're talking about different experiences here, as comments about McDonalds and street food indicates.
I don't think Person_one went to McDonalds. Either way, what difference does it make whether you go to a cheaper or high-end place? Discussions about how many courses, or how to split the bill still need to be made regardless of how many Michelin stars the establishment has.

I don't think most people put the whole fork into even their own mouths, you just use it to lift the food from your plate to your mouth with, perhaps, the ends of the tines just touching your lips.

Eating my dinner tonight is going to be a revelation. :rotfl:

I'm pretty sure I put more than the tip of the tines in my mouth but I'll have to check.

And check what my OH does.

I'm getting ready for him saying 'Oi! What are you looking at?' :rotfl:

And people-watching at my local Wetherspoons (we just drink there, rarely eat) on steak night, curry night and fish friday is going to be fun. :D

I shall lay the blame firmly at your door if I get a fat lip for staring at random diners. :p

OK, missbiggles, you are safe. No fat lip here. ;)

Spent Tuesday and yesterday early evening in our local Wetherspoons - steak night and curry night so lots of diners.

From my observations, most people do put more than just the tip of the tines of their fork into their mouths.
Some people ram the fork in to its full length , others put it in halfway (I'm in that group).

I didn't notice anyone just touching the tips of the tines to their mouths.

Pretty interesting - especially the guy who cut up his naan bread (one of the few food items that I do eat with my fingers) put it on the end of his fork, dipped it into his curry and ate it off his fork.
    Ah Bless. :)

Thanks for taking the time to report back.

However I'm not sure that I would go looking for the best instances of manners at Wetherspoons (not being snobbish, I've been to several) or a great deal of offering dainty morsels on the end of your fork either.:rotfl:

Glad you had a good time though, they can be good fun and certainly excellent value.:)

I don't drink alcohol during Lent so I normally have a litre bottle of a decent sparkling water with my meal - it isn't hard to drink that much in 2/3 hours when eating. (And I'm not one of those people who wander round sipping from a bottle water all the time.):)

I am one who is sipping from a water bottle during the day, have to otherwise my kidneys protest. However, I can't drink a big quantity if out for a meal as it reduces the amount I can eat, doesn't matter quite so much at home if I can't finish a meal but there is absolutely no way I am going to waste something I have paid oodles for in a restaurant and am most probably really enjoying much more than any meal I have made at home.

Plus it would probably pee my dinner companions off if I fill up on drink and further reduce the little amount I can eat whilst out :rotfl:
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I am going out tonight with DH. We bought a groupon voucher for a bistro type restaurant. It's for three courses, a cocktail and wine.

I think some of you on here would be suggesting I go to AA and Overeaters anon , judging how little some if you eat and drink when you go out for a meal lol:rotfl:

Not me, I would be jealous that you can still do the 3 courses (wouldn't be sat there glumly though). I would love to be able to still eat 3 courses and not suffer the consequences later but alas it is not to be.

For a special occasion, I might try to push it because even though it would make me really quite ill, it would be worth it.

Middle son deconstructs a burger into its seperate parts and then eats with a knife and fork...drives me nuts as to me it is just far too much faffing and defeats the object of combining textures and tastes.

He has aspergers though so to him it makes perfect sense.

We weren't eating there - we do so very rarely, usually when the Pollycat kitchen is closed on the evening before our holidays - just meeting different sets of friends for drinks but it's a great location for people-watching. ;)

Popping into MacDonald's for a quick lunch is nothing like a pre-arranged meal for a particular occasion.

Does anyone, other than teenagers, arrange to meet for a meal at MacDonald's?

We go to couple of local restaurants that we like and another in a nearby town but for lunch or occasional get togetherz we usually go to the local Beefeater. It was built a couple of years ago and is nicely laid out with plenty of space and with a couple of very picky eaters in the family it is good as there is something for everyone.

I thought I would pick your brains, I have never been to Weatherspoons is it any good? Also we have a new Harvester that opened quite recently, anyone know if they are any good? I am tempted to try the Harvester as it seems to have been done up nicely but I don't find the Weatherspoons so appealing. Any advice?
