Staying friends with someone who ends up in a police cell through drink is definitely beyond acceptable behaviour.

I presume you mean that the other way round?

Where did I say that everything about you isn't worth knowing?

How you interact with your mother is your choice and some would have had no contact. Someone with alcohol problems in the family is tough so surprised that you would drink to excess but that was your choice.

You didn't say anything about me personally, But you said

amongst other things...So by saying quotes like that I took it to mean if we were friends in the real world....If I got so paralytic that I woke up in a police cell, Couldn't tell you a thing of what happened the night before and cautioned for drunk and disorderly...We would likely be no longer friends because my behavior was so unacceptable?

Unless there was a very good reason for that behaviour then I doubt we would be friends as you don't think there was anything wrong with behaving that way. If someone behaved that way but was mortified and made changes so that their life was not like that anymore then that would be different.

    Fair enough :)
I guess eveyone has their limits of what is and isn't acceptable. For me if it was a daily occurrence and impacted my life in a negative way constantly, I'd probably keep them at arms length until they were more stable but still be there for them unless they were abusive and threatening. But growing up with it I'm used to that kind of behaviour and it does become kind of 'normalised'
Like I said I've learnt my lesson with drink. But I still do a lot of things that are probably not deemed 'socially acceptable' and people can decide to not like me for those reasons, that is their prerogative I suppose :)

Tbh here Tory , you actually disgust me right now

You are a Christian. You throw your Christianity about you like a cloak, and yet your Christianity doesn't allow you to feel enough compassion to help some one in need when it's drink related?

Oh help someone who's had a fit that's epileptic , but woe betide the person who is having an alcoholic fit???

If the one person in this world who refused to turn her back on me, when I really and truly was in the gutter, couldn't get past the fact I was there because of drink, I wouldn't be here posting today

Seriously, I rarely get riled by what people post on here, but you shout your Christianity from the bloody roof tops, but only show it when it suits you, how the hell do you dare sit and call yourself a Christian

    Somebody had to say it.

I said I would help someone who was drunk to be safe and nowhere was someone having a fit purely through drink mentioned, not least as how would I or anyone else be able to tell the cause.

Why you had drink problems is none of my business and I'm glad you got the help you needed.
I have before now helped someone having a fit, unconscious for an unknown reason and even a cardiac arrest as well as assault victims. So yes I do try to be compassionate. Being compassionate is not just accepting things happen.

By the way, its Torry, not Tory:p

Oh dear we've gone from splitting the bill, to hand feeding your dinner companions, to whether you'd introduce an overseas guest to your family, to assisting strippers with their tampon insertion, and then to getting so drunk you wake up in a police cell. Wherever can this thread go next?

    Excellent summary. :T

and now someone has mentioned religion. It's all going to end in tears.
