From a purely personal viewpoint, I do.

Cheap sausages don't taste nice (to me).

I have to be in the mood for sausages, if I am in the mood I love them but if I'm not in the mood I find them a bit revolting. I like cumberland sausages best.

The bane of my life! Why does it bother people if I don't drink alcohol? If people go on about it enough, and people do go on about it, I sometimes end up saying something like "I don't need alcohol to enjoy myself." They then get in a huff because I am implying they need alcohol to enjoy themselves. Just leave us alone.

I drink very little of anything so for most of the night I won't be "joining in" by drinking. I do join in by chatting, joking etc.

I must be lucky, I give up alcohol every year for Lent and nobody's ever said a word about it.

    Ahem....

As a happily early retired person, with an OH who retired years before me (I will never forgive him for that ever lol)...

We had lunch (a long one, sigh, life is so difficult on a Monday isn't it?), with OH sister and BIL.

So we had a glass of wine (the girls, yes we are as young as that), and the boys (yes they think they are too, but will never measure up obv) had a pint each.

So we had starters and mains and another (OMG) bottle of wine for the girls and another pint each for the MEN (no driving involved so relax in your tracks everyone!).

We had a fabulous time. The girls on one side yapping away, the lads on the other talking footie and whatever. Brilliant.

So the bill came and it was X amount so my OH went up to pay and BIL said no way are you paying and so it goes.

As it happened, OH paid X and BIL paid Y, and next time it will be reversed.

But TBH in a nice enjoyable situation like that it doesn't matter.

Anyway I had a lovely long lunch with people I enjoy being with. There is no price on that is there?

Do they know its for lent? I think its because I don't drink at all, its like a challenge. It always seems really juvenile to me. I do know that mixing with police officers/retired police officers might be a factor as back in the 70s it was a heavy drinking culture, might be different now. I was told once that it made people uncomfortable as I would remember what they did when they were drunk and they wouldn't so obviously the answer was that I should get drunk as well.

Sounds wonderful and that is what we enjoy doing too x

At this moment we are sitting in the bar of the restaurant at the hotel on the site where we have our static caravan holiday home. I have had three halves and my husband has had four. The beer is local (Anglesey) and is very pleasant. Could stay here for ever .......

I'll sometimes drink sparkling water as with ice and a slice I don't get the hassle because they assume it's G&T -saves a tiresome conversation.

It is wonderful, and life is far too short to worry and fret about inconsequential things really.

We will all know when we really have to worry about certain things.

Yes - I tell them. I've occasionally been asked whether it's for religious reasons and I explain that's only part of it for me.

If I'm drinking then I usually have cider and black. If I'm not drinking or alternating between alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks then I'll get black currant and soda. People never usually know the difference.
