I've some very sad news to share, I'm afraid. Our lovely PurpleFairy passed away last month from cancer. I know many of us enjoyed her hugely positive & upbeat diary & it is hard to imagine that more recentky, she'd obviously been writing it while undergoing cancer treatment. I never met PurpleFairy, but we were very occasionally in touch in real life. This began with a kindness on her part - I'd mentioned on the MSE Small Things daily thread that I was struggling to find a suitable hyperallergenic sunblock for our cat's sun-damaged ears, of all things. I'd barely typed it before PurpleFairy pinged me a message to say she'd got a spare one I could have if I sent her my address. So I did & after that we did occasionally share a knitting pattern, recipe or gardening tip IRL.
A few weeks ago, PurpleFairy pinged me absolutely out of the blue to say that she'd been having cancer treatment but that her days here were now "very limited". She didn't want to disappear from the MSE diary community & nobody to know what had happened. I can see that people have already been wondering.
I'm so sorry to be the bringer of such sad news - I think we'd all have liked to know PurpleFairy properly in real life.
Rest peacefully, PurpleFairy. Your kindness & positivity will be missed on here.

Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!13 -

I’m so sorry to hear this, and am thinking of her family and friends, including all here. I’ve been lurking on this page for several months and had already seen her posts on the small things page. I enjoyed reading her updates and am so sad there won’t be any more. RIP PurpleFairy x4
