We have had some really good results with £bay sales this week bringing my selling total after all fees to £426. Still a couple of things to sell but of low value, will have to get imaginative with the remaining £74 to hit my £500 target. I am not counting £uidco or surveys as they go in the Christmas money neutral pot.
I do want to turn DS1's old room into a guest room with a double bed and there is a decent single bed in there and a huge wardrobe. Might stick the bed on gumtr££ as it is currently used as a dumping ground. It would make the room much easier to decorate too if empty.
Bit of a spendy week as we have been out with friends a couple of times and it was DS2's birthday, one friend starts some pretty nasty medical treatment next week which means she cannot have alcohol for several months, bless her. Makes you realise how fragile we are and just how quickly life can throw a curve ball.
Nothing much spendy planned for today so off for a nice walk in the sunshine."These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -
No spend day for us today, had a lovely walk in the North Yorkshire moors and took a picnic. Steam trains and moorland, just lovely.
Back to work tomorrow after 5 weeks off.....might sting a bit."These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -
I have just read your diary with interest and will be subscribing. I am in my late 20s and love the idea of being able to retire early. My husband isn't quite on the same page but I've just opened the escape artists blog so no doubt that will keep me busy for a while
Good luck with the 2 year plan!!0 -
Yikes, that was a long and tiring week. If anything is has spurred me on even more to throw everything at the FI pot. It also struck me that the students who have signed up this week for one of my 2 year courses will be the last ones I teach from start to finish!
We have discussed things at great length and Mr Light will give up his job at the end of November 2017 with me to follow in August 2018 or sooner if at all possible.
Selling has slowed somewhat and I am still shy of the £500 target. Have spent the afternoon raiding the loft and have found a faulty PC monitor and some spare speakers which may bring in a few £.
The M&S £30 voucher is due on the 22nd August and I have a £5 MrT orchard voucher for some BBQ food for Mr Light meaning that I will have a free week's shopping next week
Feeling very positive at the moment."These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -

It can be difficult to convince other halves sometimes. I think I wore Mr Light down:rotfl:"These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -
Is that the M$S voucher for opening and using the credit card? I'd forgotten about that. Hope mines due then too!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0

Yes thats the one Pooky, I rang them up and they said they were being emailed on the 22nd August. Waited months for this!"These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -
And in the last half hour I have made a £130 sale to a facebook friend:j
After fees that is £510 for the month:T

Brilliant going! :T
Loving reading your FI plans too
Thanks for the heads up on TEA, I've lost a few days to his blog already, such deliciously inspiring stuff :ja penny picker upper. M and S need to sort their Sh** out. I still haven't received my voucher:mad: 31st May is when I originally applied for the CC. Apparently it was emailed on 22nd August but I didn't get it. They are investigating......muppets.
Anyyyyywaayyyy..........
Having a bit of a late start today as enrolment evenings are up and running. Had a very interesting talk with a colleague who revealed that he has enough money not to have to work any more. I asked him why he doesn't just walk away from it all and do some fun stuff. His reply was..........."I guess going to work is just what we do" Are you chuffing MENTAL!!!!!
Top fella, intelligent, aged 50+ ................ not a scooby do:rotfl: OK that is a little mean but I was shocked to hear that he comes to work because that's what he has always done.
Do you think I dare send him the link to MMM or TEA? Maybe when I hand my notice in he may follow (not literally, that would be creepy)
In other news I have invested £1000 in R@tesetter Peer2peer for 1 year to grab the £100 bonus and 3.5% rate. Will do the same with Mr Light too. If anyone would like my refer a friend link please PM me, I would really appreciate it and am very happy to split the referral bonus:A"These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0
