Fab plans! No news on my voucher yet - will chase again next week.
If you're crafty (as in can craft rather than cunningly crafty) then there's a big market for handmade stuff - as long as you can find your niche.
I'm sure you'll be raising double that amount once you put your minds into it."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

Unfortunately I have never made anything crafty in my life, apart from knitting a couple of baby cardigans when the boys were tiny.
What types of things do you think sell well? It may be a new skill I could acquire."These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -

If your DH is good with the joinery side of things then maybe look into pyrography (burning images/text onto wood) it's good fun and a starter burner (looks like a soldiering iron) starts around a tenner. Lots of examples on Pinterest - people love personalised anything! Small items that can be posted out (you can set up an Etsy or Folksy shop to sell from) and selling via a FB page is easy and you can build a good client base as well as selling locally on FB boot fairs etc."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Just a thought, have you looked at doing Airb&b too? Its on our list when our 2 move out. Luckily we're well placed for being on the way to the port so should be able to get some bookings."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0

Definitely something that could be considered. Not sure that where we live is any interest for holiday makers but we do live quite close to the coast and a couple of historical cities but everything is a drive away.
Mr Light would get a bit twitchy though, he is a stranger danger kinda guy:o"These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0 -

What a lovely sunny day. DS1 fancies a scoot around a local car boot sale so we are going to enjoy a morning bargain hunting and idea gathering. DS1 is on track to hit his FIRE target by aged 30-32 (subject to future pay increases) and we stayed up waaayyyyy too late last night discussing the possibilities of what to do after giving up full time work.
I love Yoga and he mentioned that a girl he knows trained as a yoga teacher for additional income during Uni and does local classes and individual yoga lessons at peoples homes. Quick google search and there are courses for around £1500 which certifies you to do this and the current Adult Le@rning Loan (used to be 24+) can be applied for. Really interested in the sound of that option."These things take time but I know that I'm the most inept that ever stepped"0
