Ourageous. But surely this doesn't still happen though?0 -
When I was at school we were only allowed one pupil at a time but if you coordinated things correctly with a friend in another class you could have a gossip in the loo... Take the long way back to lesson could ensure a good 10 min break from the lesson.. Oh those were the days!
I suppose those tricks are still in operation so a solution needs to be found without denying a child the right to go for a wee because that is madness.0 -

I had kids be sick in class on two occasions; each with little warning. In fact, I saw each go green and told them to run. Neither made it.
The lad simply turned sideways and threw up over his friend's book!
His mother was a colleague of mine. I was so tempted to call her to clear it up.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

If the teachers are all in the corridors guarding the toilets the lessons aren't going to start on time anyway.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I remember those horrid days of all day "morning" sickness, I had to use the underground and had a double carrier bag to throw up into. I had a bucket by my desk, when teaching to throw up into as the least thing could set me off. The staff room was a no go for ages as the smell of tea and coffee would set me off.
My daughter was pg with her second she was called by college and they demanded she went in.. so off she went, threw up on her personal tutor.. and went home.. they didnt force her to go in after that! She was on 3 lots of medication to try to stop the sickness and was still ill.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

sadly if students were just allowed to get up and go to the toilet when they wanted it would be abused by some students.
Schools cannot pick out those who abuse it and say no then yes to those who rarely ask.
also can you imagine the disruption to a lesson if every few minutes someone asks to use the loo, parents will then be moaning that their students are not progressing. Schools cannot win.
if there is a medical conditions (heavy menstruation is one of these) then send your child in with a letter/medical evidence or phone the school to get a temporary pass. Believe me i work in a school and issue these passes i do quite a few.0 -

If either of my daughters are not allowed to the toilet when they ask to, the school will have a very irate mum they will have to put up with instead. I trust that my girls wouldn't take the mickey if they needed to go (for whatever reason).
When I was in year 8, I was refused to be allowed to visit the toilet, wasn't pleasant and spent the afternoon with my cardigan around my white summer dress until I rang my Mum and she demanded that the school let me go early. And it was the female reason, not the poo reason!Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

I remember about 15 years ago in a French lesson my teacher refused to let a girl go and she ended up wetting herself. She was pretty mercilessly bullied for it as well.
I get that it could cause an issue with kids skiving off but surely a teacher should be savvy enough to know whether someone is just taking the !!!! or they generally need one!I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
