    hello again

Well i just thought id pop back, whilst having a well earned drink of water...

Have just escaped form the kitchen..temporarily:p .... having made:-

Loaf of bread - and ive resisted hacking a lump off the end whilst still warm - and burying it in butter:A ...

A plate of sausages, that are now have to sit in the fridge overnight... i made 16 fat uns and with the meat that was still in the machine, i have divided it into 3 lumps and will turn it into stuffing as and when :T .... hubby will be happy as this is the 1st batch ive made since we got here.. didnt work out bad at all - the meat cost roughly £2.80..so thats about 15p a sausage plus the stuffing "for free".... guess who is having "toad in the hole tommorrow?":j

A pan of pork stock -using the bones from the "sausage" meat

cooked the chicken portion and made stock that will be turned into chicken n sweetcorn soup for tea tonight with a wedge of the bread..as requested by hubby

and finally i have a pork casserole ticking over in the SC... for freezing...

So im a happy bunny..just have to put the machine back in his box once all the bits are dry and oiled ....and then finish the soup of later :D

Hope everyones day is going well.... especially all of you that are "free" for a few hour..whilst all the DS n DD are at school;)

Hi All, what a gorgeous morning.

RedRuby Have you thought about getting an IUS fitted? I don't mean an IUD. The IUS is a little plastic device which contains progesterone, and lasts for about 5 years. One of the well publicised side effects is that in many women it reduces their period to zero (or almost zero), so is often used in cases like yours. I had one fitted a couple of months ago. The first week was horrendous: I haven't had children, so it hurt a lot when they fitted it, and it was painful for two following days, and then very uncomfortable for a further four. It's been fine since then. Because the progesterone is delivered right where its needed, it actually contains a fraction of the hormone used in the pill, which can't be a bad thing.

    Thanks dannahaz,
I had spoken to my DR about these, but she was reluctant to fit me with one as it seems to be the hormone causing the problems, she has me on the lowest hormone pill possible, which although does not help with the heaviness of my period, it stops me bleeding for the rest of the month which I was doing, once for 4 weeks  I will ask the consultant at the hosp tomorrow,
    Thanks for advice though

Hi - just grabbing some time off from packing, filing, cooking and waiting for DGS to come round after school.

MEANMARIE - Two different antibiotics is not unusual in the case of a severe infection. One will get to work straightaway to bring the inflammation right down and the other will deliver a steady dose to clear the infection and keep it away. Each lot must be completed. (I'm an ex-dental nurse!). They might cause a case of the 'squits' as my boss used to warn patients! If one of them is metronidazole, that is a really strong one and you can't drink alcohol with it. Hope by now they are doing the trick.

CRAZYCHIK - welcome back; so glad you had a good time - shame you've had to go straight back to work.

PENPIN - hope everything went well at the hospital.

SMOKY - I don't know how you cope with the worry. You must be superhuman. Your poor OH must be so fed up.

CSARINA - well, I'm waiting for a pic of the first thing you must have made by now!! How on earth did you stand the wait? It would have driven me bonkers! Anyway, have fun with it as I'm sure you will.

Well, I've been to the shops, made a fresh fruit salad to take round for pud when I have dinner with DS2 and his GF. I've made a salad for DGS for his dinner - he loves salad and he also has chips when he's here. It's the only time I cook them and the only time he has them so I'm not allowed to change the routine! I've made him some of his favourite cakes and dragged out the backgammon set - he keeps beating me at chess but I don't think he's played backgammon yet so I hope he's up to the challenge!

The weather has been really nice today - sunny and warm; I've got all the towels on the line. My paperwork is all up to date (well, until the postman comes again tomorrow!) and I've wrapped DS1's birthday pressies. I did them in plain brown wrapping paper and stamped the paper using my brilliant stamp kit that I picked up from the charity shop, then I tied it all up with bright green and yellow raffia. Looks quite classy, if I may say so. I think I'll do the same again because it looks really individual.

Well, I think I'm going to have a cuppa - DGS will be here in an hour. Won't have another chance on here until later this evening when I've returned from DS2's so have a great rest-of-the-day and I'll call in later.

    Hi All

Hope everyone's having a good day today - especially those who are back to school or first time at school nursery (including those whose LO's are doing this!).

We're doing a bit of a stocktake here today. I've pulled out the big corner cupboard in the kitchen (the "black hole" into where all the tins and dried stuff disappears), cleaned the cupboard and done a proper inventory of what's in there - scary stuff...who'd have guessed that one cupboard could harbour 13 tins of chopped tomatoes, 10 tins of baked beans, 4 tins of chickpeas...well, the list goes on! Mind you, that means that this month's food spend is going to go down - and that was the main aim, so thats all good!! :T

Next stop this afternoon is to tackle the freezer. Inventory first, then pack it all into the big coolbag with some icepacks while I defrost the freezer. Shouldn't be too bad as we've been running down the contents for a while, so its only about 1/3-1/2 full.

Mr P is going to do some batch cooking this while I am clearing out the freezer - then we can re-stock it with homemade ready meals...yummy, cheaper and healthier for us. :D

Hugs to all who need or want one...please help yourself! :grouphug:

  • Hello everyone

SMOKEY soooo sorry to hear you've been so badly messed about. Exacerbation is just Drs fancy word for "got worse"- they do like us to remember how important they are by using lots of big words. Hope its all sorted very soon.

REDRUBY the IUS- intrauterine system is an IUD-intrauterine device by any other name- I think it might be S to denote the added hormone which is what reduces the flow. I have one myself even though I cannot take any kind of normal pill. Its also Known as the Mirena coil and there was a long thread on in the health forum about a year ago. I can't give you any medical advice here but i can tell you it has been very moneysaving for me as I have gone from heavy periods to none, saving me quite a bit each month. The Drs at the hospital will know much more about it than any GP as it is their specialist area. Whatever you decide, good luck- heavy periods are a real nuisance and can really wash you out.
