OS Daily Tues 4th sep

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 4th sep. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning to KYLE and DLB and all who follow. (((Hugs))) to all in need. SMOKY - how is your DH?

DLB - it's a milestone day for you, isn't it? It's very strange the first time you've got all the children at school! My DGS started junior school yesterday and my DGD gos to school for the first time on Thursday so that's my next generation at school now.

Well, I have been invited to DS2's for dinner tonight. His GF's a good cook (especially as she's only been learning since they bought their house in December) so that will be my second dinner invitation for the week. DGS is coming here for dinner after school, so I'll cook for him then go straight to DS2's when I've dropped him back at home. Have to decide on a pudding to take with me so I need to look through my recipes.

Started my packing for France last night. I treated myself to a new wheelie suitcase the other day so that should make light work of things at the airport. Still need to make DS1's birthday card - must get that done today.

I need to pop out to the bank so I think I'll aim to get out early.

I watched Nigella's new programme last night while I was doing the ironing; she really flirts with the camera, doesn't she? DH is still away - he'll be sorry he missed her! Anyway, there's a couple of recipes I like the look of so I'll have to check out the website. I have now started on my second file of recipes and, at the moment, they're both organised. The last time I picked up my old file, all the scribbled-on scraps of paper fell out so it made me tidy it up and invest in a new ring binder. I really have no excuse not to do a proper meal plan now. I'll make a start when I come back home on 16th.

Anyway, kettle is calling so will have another cuppa then have a shower. See you all later.

Morning Kyle, dlb & everyone else,

Had a cleaning house & ironing day today. Has drizzled most of the day here which is good for the yard. Painting was crossed off the list as I wasn't going to stand in the rain and do it. :D So read instead. Sister has to attend a funeral on Thursday so I'll meet up with her next week now.

dlb I remember the feeling too well. (((hugs))) Sniff, sniff.
kyle I hope your back gets better soon. ;):D
Mrs Mix I wrote a charming letter to my MIL a very long time ago :D after she let the kids down once to often. I didn't tell DH  and he got a late night phone call from her when it arrived.

Well hope you all have a great day & ((((hugs)))) to those that need them. Byeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

All was chaos & confusion at work yesterday, the Facilities Manager walked out, most of the Staff had lost their planners & calenders, everybody was complaining about something. I think SNAFU would just about cover it.
The lodger was upset as she was promised her own laptop when she started at the school, as is every staff member, unfortunately hers doesn't work, most of the laptops don't work!!!
I've upset many members of staff as I refused to do their copying while they waited. I have 3 new photocopiers to program & 150 outstanding jobs to clear befor tomorrow morning. Staff are always told I work during the holidays, so they fill mt desk up with work. But as the school won't pay me to go in, I don't work.
Hope everyone has a great day.

    Hi Hester

What! Staff told you are there in the holidays - but school doesnt pay you! Naughty (of the school that is). Dont blame you for not going in then - no pay, no play. Well - (try to) have a good day. I'm about to head in soon for another in my (....... ) workplace again. So - looking forward to it .. not. At least I get stuff that interests me out of work - all this stuff I am finding on the net (oh no - more reading for me she thinks!).

Morning everyone else too - have a good one.
  • Morning all

Good luck to all Mums whos LOs start school today - I remember it well. I don't know what's worse, when they cling to you or when they walk away without looking back :o

Bright here today, but much cooler than yesterday. I managed to get lots of washing dried - told DH that I probably won't be ironing any more short-sleeved shirts this year (apart from those for Florida) :D

Nothing much planned today, just lots of listing on Ebay

Hope everyone has a good day x
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :D
  • Good morning all! Had a better sleep than the night before last. I've got pancake batter fermenting right now, not sure what I'm up to today.

Going to London tomorrow, but as the underground strike is on........ I'm going to have to go by taxi to my appointment and back, across central London - will cost me an extra £50.

Hester, all those who were cheeky enough to fill your in tray with their work, give it back to them!

    (((((HUGS)))))

    Hvea good day everyone!

Hi Hester - I hope today is a better day for you. If the staff are told you work during the holidays, then you should get paid. No-one works just for the love of it!
