If it helps.......if you know your card expiry date is looming and due when you go travelling, you can order a replacement card over internet banking. No need to explain why you want it or 'lie' to anyone, just order a replacement in plenty of time for your travels.
No need to shout though, you sound like you've been caught short, learn from it and share the lesson for others.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. Is this advice for any CC or for Clarity specifically? If it helps.......if you know your card expiry date is looming and due when you go travelling, you can order a replacement card .... AFAIK, for some cards a replacement one is issued with identical expiry date. Don't know about Clarity.0 -
For most LBG cards as far as I'm aware. They should give you a new expiry date if the existing card is due to expire within weeks. Obviously no good if there's months still left to run but weeks should be fine.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. I didn't know that Halifax would wire me cash if I lost my cards abroad. I always assumed that was what travel insurance was for, or failing that American Express.
So not only do they pay me a fiver a month for using their card, they'll send me cash if I need it, and (as a last resort) if I'm really stuck they'll send me a replacement card direct. That's excellent service, I'm glad I chose them as one of my card providers.0 -
Blimey, is this thread still going?
Hardly news that a credit card provider will only send a replacement to the registered address.
I researched this prior to my recent long stint of travelling overseas as I planned to use my Clarity card as my main source of cash.
But I also took 2 other back up cards with me.
Unfortunately my Clarity card was cloned (the bar stewards cost me a fortune in phone calls to my bank:()...but, no problem, I thought, I'll use my other card!
Wrong...it would seem the part of the world I was in was not partial to AMEX cards at thier ATM machines:(
Ok plan c) card 3...or it would have been if I hadn't forgotten my pin number and my online log in details:o
Lesson learnt, do more research next time but no point shouting about it OP

This, precisely.Personally I would not want a cc sent anywhere other than my home address, but each to their own.Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.0 -
I'm currently abroad and would like to thank all the contributors for reminding me to put my backup credit card in my toiletry bag, to keep it separate from my Clarity card.
Well done FOREVER21 for trying to bring this to a peaceful resolution...Your comments regarding replies to new posters is often mentioned on various forums. Try not to take it too personally, and don't let it put you off posting .
This is the point where you lost me OPWHY WOULD I LIE TO MY BANK ????
Anyone who takes this type of advice is a complete idiot!
F21 was obviously only trying to help.
In everyone's defence the etiquette guide has recently moved from the left hand side to the right hand side of the screen since the site format change, took me a few seconds longer to find it too! I suggest we all go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. :beer:0 -
Lets face facts:

A very woolly argument. Baa.....
I travel alot and have NEVER had a card stolen. Not doubt it will happen one day. But I have had blocks, random refusals and cards expire on me whilst abroad. I typically travel with 4 to 6 cards and usually keep a cash buffer. I suggest you do the same.
Clarity is a great card, but I really wouldn't expect them to incur costs and risk by sending replacement cards overseas. They don't say they will do this, there are no fees and what they make out of me must be minimal. No free ride.0 -

What a waste of time - why does anyone bother with these forums, they are full of complete buffoons with nothing else to do other than be horrible to others. . .
For someone who joined MSE on March 16th, you seem by March 22nd to have developed considerable insights into individual posters on this thread.
If you wish to spend your time, researching others' posting histories, then that's obviously your choice. If you wish to entertain unreasonable expectations of a no-fee credit card provider, ditto. Unfortunately, you appear to be assuming that everyone else's expectations are the same as yours -- and that if they're not, then those people must be idiots.
Presumably you'll now be answering your own why-does-anyone-bother question by ceasing to continue on as someone who appears to be a newbie in a forum populated by complete buffoons who are horrible to others.0
