            Really ?

Top Definition. trolling. Being a !!!!! on the internet because you can.

Top Definition. flaming. An online argument that becomes nasty or derisive,
I did not say I wanted help - I am however offering caution on using the Clarity card.
However; grumbler, instead of understanding the situation that HBOS put travelers in, decided to derride my posting and try(badly I may add) to pull the posting to bits...this is flaming.
grumbler adds absolutely no useful information, but attempts to pick to pieces everything in my posting, attempting to disprove whatever I had written.
Followed by the_insider with practically no useful information whatsoever.
Now you tomtontom offering me to enjoy the rest of my travels.....thanks, but I am not even travelling...
Why, when someone new profers some good words of warning, do people like yourselves think its such a good idea to bully, pickon, become abusive?
There is absolutely no need for it and I am pretty sure that if the owner of this site noticed this thread at all, he may well be quite embarassed at the horrible treatment the 3 of you are giving me.
The internet does indeed have trolls who flame just to get noticed....even if that means being a complete idiot....
All I was doing was letting folks know that a card that was (at least initially) marketed for travel, one that is advocated by this site, is completely useless if you lose it abroad and that HBOS will do everything in their power not to issue you with an emergency replacement.
Now, if you think that is such a travesty that someone new wants to warn folks of the pitfalls of a penny pinching bank - thats fine.....but, keep your opinions to your self and do not try to dis-credit someone, just because they are either new or you do not agree with the entire sentiment - it is basically just information at the end of the day - its not something that needs debated, nor something that needs any opinions.0 -
Personally I would not want a cc sent anywhere other than my home address, but each to their own.
However from your original post it appears that the solution to anyone finding themselves in a similar position is to,
1 Tell them you were travelling alone
2 Tell them you have no other card
3 Tell them you are destitute and don't want cash sending out.
Your comments regarding replies to new posters is often mentioned on various forums. Try not to take it too personally, and don't let it put you off posting .0 -
WHY WOULD I LIE TO MY BANK ????
Anyone who takes this type of advice is a complete idiot!
Why not just understand the pitfalls of HBOS credit cards as I have mentioned numerous times?
I am not asking for advice, I am not looking for anything from anyone here.... I am however letting folks know just how bad HBOS credit cards are when you need them most!
As for sending to anywhere other than your home address - pray tell - how does that help if you are travelling and need it ?0 -

To get a replacement card!!0 -
But lying is bad; bad for your credit score; bad for your reputation with the bank; bad because any other cards you may hold with them may get canceled at the same time putting you in a worse situation.
So - this is not a practical solution and to be perfectly honest, shows just how bad HBOS policies and procedures are that anyone would even consider that lying to them like this is any kind of solution!0 -
You do realise that 'HBOS' don't issue any bank cards nor do they even have a banking license?
That aside - you seem like a total loon - the only issuer than markets themself for foreign travel is American Express and they DO offer generic replacement cards. I wouldn't personally expect such a service unless specifically advertised. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Flaming HX...no...letting people know useful information about Clarity Cards...yes...All I was doing was letting folks know that a card that was (at least initially) marketed for travel, one that is advocated by this site, is completely useless if you lose it abroad and that HBOS will do everything in their power not to issue you with an emergency replacement.
Let's face the facts:
You came here for a rant in the first place, not for "letting people know".
If it was the latter, your thread should have been among the lines:
Instead, you started with shouting and kept repeating rubbish like "designed for travel", "don't expect any customer service", "cannot do anything to help" etc. only because they failed your expectations that were absolutely groundless.Warning: if you use Halifax Clarity abroad beware that they don't offer emergency replacement if it's lost or stolen. Instead they offer cash by WU in exceptional circumstances.
The following cards do offer emergency replacement, but, unlike Clarity, charge you for this, this and that:

flame
verb
direct a vitriolic or abusive message at (someone) on the Internet
[someone = Halifax]
Another fact is that Clarity has never been marketed specifically for travel, but is used by many people for this and, understandably, promoted by MoneySavingE - because, indeed, it Saves Money. Emergency replacement is a feature that can be important for someone, but hardly relevant to saving money.0 -
            Wow....the flamer is flaming again!0

That registration belongs to Bank of Scotland, not Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS).Halifax and Bank of Scotland (HBOS) - is an FCA authorised institution FRN 169628 - it is wholy owned by Lloyds banking group.

It's Bank of Scotland, not HBOS, who issue the Halifax credit cards.
Not flaming...just educating.
