The similarities between the Indy ref and the eu ref are plain to see.
Don't remember closing the border being a discussion point and passports being a requirement.
Neither was the campaign quite as rude.
"Leaving the European Union would make the UK as significant as Guernsey, France's economy minister has said.
Emmanuel Macron told Le Monde newspaper that Britain would become "a little country on the world scale [that] would isolate itself... at Europe's border".0 -

Actually I can remember the border issue being raised, for much the same reasons relating to migration, but how much it was discussed in Scotland I've no idea. As for rudeness you could well be right.
Macron's remark is a bit daft; let's invade France! :-)Union, not Disunion

I thought it was generally agreed that the SNP would rebuild the wall to keep the scots in (for their own good of course)0 -
Does that mean the Border moves south and we get Berwick? The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don't know anything about.

It would have to be on the Scottish side of the border of course. Maybe a suitable trial project could be round a golf course. After all, I understand a certain expert US wall builder is due to visit Scotland on Wednesday.Union, not Disunion

It was Ed Miliband as the polls hit high for Yes. It was certainly discussed.. and was almost certainly one of the reasons Labour crashed and burned in Scotland in the following GE.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2746369/We-ll-guards-Scottish-border-Ed-Miliband-reveals-incendiary-plan-new-poll-reveals-vote-knife-edge.htmlWe'll put guards on Scottish border:
Ed Miliband reveals incendiary plan as Yes camp leads for first time in shock new poll.
Labour leader revealed passport checks 'would have to be looked at'
His spokesman: 'It would be up to us to secure our northern border'. Revelation comes just 11 days before history-making referendum...
...Last night former Labour Home Secretary David Blunkett echoed Mr Miliband’s warning by referring to last week’s riots in Calais when immigrants attempted to storm a ferry.
‘Were the Scots to vote “Yes” to separation, the issue of border controls and the threat of entry through Scottish ports and airports would take on serious proportions,’ Mr Blunkett told The Mail on SundayIt all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -
Vile separatists.

Ruth Davidson believes the Scottish Conservatives would have to break away from the UK party under a new name if Boris Johnson becomes Prime Minister, the Telegraph can disclose as the pair prepare to face off on Tuesday night in an EU referendum TV debate. Senior sources close to the Scottish Tory leader said she thinks the former Mayor of London would be toxic to her party’s electoral hopes north of the Border if he succeeds David Cameron in the wake of a vote for Brexit on Thursday.
They said Ms Davidson predicts the Scottish Conservatives would have to “do a Murdo”, a reference to her former leadership rival Murdo Fraser’s controversial proposal to break away from the UK Tories and form a new right-wing party.
https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/news/politics/scottish-politics/210365/scottish-tories-split-uk-party-boris-johnson-becomes-leader/Scottish Tories to split from UK party if Boris Johnson becomes leader
Supporters of Mr Fraser’s plan last night argued that forming a new party would be the “next logical step” for her, whether Mr Johnson entering Downing Street or another factor was the catalyst.
Party insiders said she had distanced the Scottish party from the UK Tories in several key policy areas and they campaigned in the recent Holyrood election under the banner “Ruth Davidson for a strong opposition” rather than the Conservative name.
Still, with Scottish Labour apparently considering the same thing, that would be both Scottish Labour and the Conservatives resorting to desperate measures in order to disassociate themselves with Westminster politics. The SNP must be laughing their heads off at this news.
As predicted, killing off their own Westminster unionism in order to stay relevant in Holyrood Scotland. Neither have any significant Westminster presence at the present time. Both parties would be hard pressed should a second referendum come around in arguing for the Union, Should they themselves have split from their UK counterparts.
Hope Ruth does well tonight though in the EU debate against Johnson et al. This is the biggest platform she's ever had UK wise. She'll be no doubt hoping to make as big as an impression as Sturgeon did on her first tv outing ( GE debates ).It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

Well what happens if England and Scotland part post a Brexit vote is interesting. Either there are border guards and queues on the A1 or the whole thing about controlling the British (English?) border is crap.0 -

there is no control at the NI and Southern Ireland border or on sea routes between S ireland and England
there is a difference between illegal and legal immigration.
however if Scotland became part od the Schegren area then that would pose some interesting issues.0 -

once the issues with the political parties are all resolved we will have an interesting situation
probaly all the parties will be in favour of independence : the only problem then is the people of scotland are against
a bit little the Uk and immigration
all the parties are in favour : only the population are against.0
