I never knew it as Betty ... always knew it as the death star or the new Southern

Death star due to the size of it and new southern as that's effectively what it is

The wheels are in motion now string. The Scottish Parliament has made it's request. There's not a lot anyone can do now to stop the constitutional s**t show and legal can of worms that will be opened when May says no.

I still don't see how asking people what they want regarding their own nation's future within a 'union of equal partners' can hostile. We might vote No after all. England/Wales can still leave the EU and take the path they want. No one is stopping you from doing so.

    I don't think I see Mr Zulu's posts.

Yes, the wheels are in motion, they are coming off. As I said, May has not refused another SNP Referendum (Requested on behalf of the SNP, not the long suffering Scottish Voter), she has said that "now is not the time". At any time, if she wishes she can agree to consider such a request at some time after Brexit, then Sturgeon's whole case comes tumbling down.

I can't take your second paragraph seriously I'm afraid. You are not so daft you don't know the meaning of what I said.

Re Zulu's posting. Don't believe in blocking people myself, I'm not afraid of other's views whatever I think of them. Mostly, I read your posts for example 🌷

I shall just have to quote Zulu's posts more frequently and advise others to do the same. You'll have to block everyone soon .

You can judge how things are going and what people think in Glasgow and Scotland by the nicknames buildings are given.

The new Queen Elizabeth Hospital was at first given the quaint and quite nice nickname of the "Betty"

Unfortunately the new nickname is not quite so endearing it is now called "The Death Star"

How about Gordon Lamb House. 3 Jackson's Entry. Edinburgh, EH8 8PJ

    Would that be the Kremlinorium?

  • ...and public opinion in Scotland on Indyref2 is not to have it...so why is she bleating on instead of getting on with her day job. I guarantee I've been in her constituency more often than she has!

No it's not foxtrot. It's 50/50 for a ref within the next two years. Which incidentally is exactly what the Scottish Govt wants too.

You're wasting your time focusing on Sturgeon, she's way ahead in the popularity stakes ( as was Salmond for years ). It's those all those pesky voters you really have an issue with. They keep voting her in... and sadly there's nothing you can really do about it apart from fume and gnash your teeth on forums like this one. :(

Hard to accept I know that most voters in, most constituencies in Scotland don't feel or see things the same way as you do. But that's politics for you I guess.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

Actually I think it was called the Death Star due to its colour and cladding that looked like it was out of Star Wars while being built. Weegie humour not a reflection on its service provision. Betty came after it was opened by the Queen.

Well when those poor voters are fed a constant stream of baseless propaganda that's not a surprise is it?

Ahhh I see ....I was told it was death star due to the size of it ( like the death star in star wars ... huge) but never heard of the Betty one

Maybe that one never made it south ?

Poor Monklands. Best DGH in Lanarkshire but the 'Geriatric' wards opened first so the local rag had umpteen notices in the 'hatches, matches and dispatches' pages and the 'suddenly at..' stuck.

BTW you forgot Hairmyres, known as Craggy Island as in Father Ted -)

No, you just really, really hope it will. You actually have no idea what's going to happen. May's likely to say No, but beyond that you're just guessing like everyone else. The request came from the Scottish Government. Westminster over riding the Scottish Government is a whole different constitutional level up, far beyond plain old "May telling Sturgeon how it is". * does Z with hand while waving head from side to side with a duck face on. *

This is Scottish voters speaking to you through the Scottish Parliament they voted into power in order to carry out their wishes. If you personally think it's fine to dismiss this and consider it a 'hostile' act then that's your prerogative. I personally think it's going to be a big old constitutional mess and signals the end game of the union.

I only block people for a little while, 'alternate' if you like when I can't be bothered reading the same stuff and dreary posts over and over. I have been here for years after all and I get bored sometimes with the old 'Krankie' and 'back to the day job' stuff churned out.. Or when people start getting insulting/angry/personal. Little point imo engaging with people who've worked themselves up so badly they're in the midst of angry frustrated hissy fits over mere forum posts. :A
