A government that governs by abstaining is a new dimension in politics.
It`s quite incredible to think that the SNP is a castrato government and yet still says it will govern for the majority of Scots.

But I have absolutely no idea what point you're trying to make above apart from the SNP getting bad press. Bad press is something they receive whatever they do so it's nothing new.
The two year moratorium is up in 2017. Fracking will wait until then for debate in Holyrood.
Admittedly I quoted the wrong post to which I was replying. Lol. Side effect of still recovering from 9 weeks residency in hospital, with no internet access.
However being honest who do you think SNP are leading up the garden path with their moratorium on fracking , companies like Ineos or the electorate.
As for bad press , all governemnts receive bad press on a daily basis, some of it ridiculous, some valid. Recently a lot of the bad press on SNP has been valid and deserved.
The problem as I see it , is too many devoted SNP supporters are unwilling to acknowledge its validity. Too preoccupied with their ' don't rock the Indy ' campaign, by daring to criticise SNP. With the result they just close their eyes and ears and shout SNPBaad.0 -
In the news they mention 120,000 more jobs are going to go in the Oil & Gas industry.
It doesn't sound too good. What are the plans to return the industry to profit?
What's the impact in the local Scottish economy?0 -

I think the plan is to beg the Saudis and the Americans to cut production. Given that the small rise in price we've seen so far as led to an increased rig count it seems unlikely that the oil price will ever see $100+ again. What's the impact in the local Scottish economy?
Unfortunately the impact isn't great. Luckily Scotland voted to remain a part of the UK so the economic success of the rest of the country can cushion the blow.
If Scotland had voted for independence then right now the Government would be working out how to wind back spending while the economy needed a boost. Not a great place to be.0 -
I don't understand why Blair and Major are talking up the dangers of Scotland voting for independence should there be a Brexit vote.
Scottish politicians are not daft to realise they need a stronger income from oil.
Now that Blair has given up his Middle Eastern peace envoy role, perhaps he could return to his old role of stirring up trouble in the region?
That might push up oil prices a bit. If only he could find some crackpot stateside with bad hair to help him stoke the flames ...0 -

The snp purport to have the best interests of Scotland at their core
They see this best achieved through independent Scotland, free from the yolk of Westminster and the free money they get from rouk
In order to be successfully independent Scotland must have a strong independent economy, to standstill it must as a minimum do better than Barnett on its own
Due to the fall in oil price jobs and capital are disappearing in Scotland along with the tax income they produce
Scotland has vast reserves of shale in sparsely populated areas and a company with in country processing facilities actively seeking to extract this.
The SNP could have made this happen. Despite potentially negative consequences for its popularity it could have used its power and influence to not only lead on perception changing but also to monitor and control the process of extrextrrsaction and to negotiate the tax etc terms for the companies extracting
Instead the SNP abstained, essentially authorising the ban without the courage to jump one way or another
The capital Jobs and revenue is now flooding south to rouk.
The SNPs cowardess and selfish self interest has worked to the detriment of Scotland and its people. Furthermore it has made any chance of independent Scotland even less likely.
Yet the acolytes still follow....
Err they abstained on a motion to BAN fracking, not one to allow it. So am not really sure where your post is going to be honest.
Labour, the Greens and the Lib Dems all voted to ban it. It's was only the 32 Tories that voted against the ban. In short most political parties in Scotland are against it going ahead one way or the other. So it probably won't in the near future.
Lets see what 2017 brings. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

what a rubbish response; the snp allowed fracking to be bannedLeft is never right but I always am.0 -
I don't understand why Blair and Major are talking up the dangers of Scotland voting for independence should there be a Brexit vote.Scottish politicians are not daft to realise they need a stronger income from oil.Major right to warn of threat to UK from Brexit vote
....That does not mean John Major is wrong to say a Leave vote could jeopardise the unity of the UK.
We continue to believe Scotland gains in security and strength from being part of larger alliances. Being part of Europe gives us security, access to markets, social and employment protections and many other benefits.
While this newspaper advocated staying within a reformed UK at the independence referendum, we, like many others, would have to reconsider our position in the event of a vote to pull out of Europe.
( full article at link, too long to post ).
Cameron last year V Cameron now. :cool:It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

"A moratorium is a delay or suspension of an activity or a law. In a legal context, it may refer to the temporary suspension of a law to allow a legal challenge to be carried out."
It's not an outright ban. Yet.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
