However being honest who do you think SNP are leading up the garden path with their moratorium on fracking , companies like Ineos or the electorate. As for bad press , all governemnts receive bad press on a daily basis, some of it ridiculous, some valid. Recently a lot of the bad press on SNP has been valid and deserved.
It shouldn't be left to bloggers to have to point out the obvious. That's what the media should be doing. The problem as I see it , is too many devoted SNP supporters are unwilling to acknowledge its validity. Too preoccupied with their ' don't rock the Indy ' campaign, by daring to criticise SNP. With the result they just close their eyes and ears and shout SNPBaad.
It's ALL about the SNP. Even the other parties concentrate on them to the extent that they actively base party policy on trying to 'get one over'. It's bizzare. A Forth Road bridge delayed by 6 months due to high winds and weather... yet still set to open 6 months before it's contracted completion date and a billion under budget. Yet it's the SNP's fault ( the weather ? ) and Keith Brown dragged into BBC studios to have to 'explain' the delay ? With accompanied BBC headlines the next day pointing fingers. Absolute non-story like many others. We're all bored with it and again, it took social media to point out the obvious rather than any media outlets.
Well past time they started listening to those voters who have deserted them in droves instead imo. They're certainly not winning over many voters doing what they are now.
ps. So glad to hear you're on the road to recovery. I've missed seeing you about in here.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

It's too one sided. None of the other Scottish parties ever get the same treatment. No matter how deserved. Scottish Labour calling for a full ban on fracking despite previous and recent support ? Where was the scrutiny there for example. Scottish Labour on Trident completely at odds with their UK counterparts, where's the scrutiny there ?

silly silly silly
the party is power is always 'unfairly' blamed and critised
amazingly enough because they are in power
it's the same down south: the Tories are blamed and critised unfairly all the time (obviously not by you of course)0 -
NEWSFLASH
Good grief! Did you guys see this?? I just found out. Tell everyone!
After having read every page of this thread I just realised that the entire country of Scotland already voted on everything that this thread is discussing in 2014! And we missed it!!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-29270441
Shakey, Elantan, Zagubov, and the other one -- Guys, you can stop arguing about fishy sounding politicians and go out and enjoy the sunshine, look for Nessie, bake shortbread, down a crate of buckfast --- you can do practically anything and it will be less pointless than continuing to argue about this.0 -
Shakey: would you agree the SNP have handled the fracking issue badly?Left is never right but I always am.0

I think I can safely assume I am "the other one" ha!
My posts must be so forgettable you don't even know my name:T
I'm glad you posted that reminder as I'd completely forgotten the result in 2014. Well, not strictly true as you know everyone who didn't vote Yes just cannot let it go. They love to harp on & back endlessly.
Me, I enjoy Shakes informative posts so I continue to read and occasionally contribute.
Nice to see you back Skint, I had thought about you and wondered why you weren't around. Hopefully feeling better & fully recovered from your long stay in hospital.0 -

Salmond was around WELL before the SNP were ever in power. Most of the newspaper outlets in Scotland are Labour leaning and have been for about 50 years.
The SNP and their leaders have never had much in the way equal nor balanced treatment in the press up here. It's just they were viewed as a fringe party for a long time. These days while no one expects the SNP to go uncriticised of course.. the loony non stories like the one above about a bridge that's ahead of schedule and under budget are taking centre stage with the SNP now apparently to blame for the weather. Daily and front page. While the media would've gotten away with it 10 or even 20 years ago... most of us have access to the internet now.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

Here's a new newsflash for you !EU Referendum: Massive swing to Brexit – with just 13 days to go
The survey of 2,000 people by ORB found that 55 per cent believe the UK should leave the EU (up four points since our last poll in April), while 45 per cent want it to remain (down four points).
If the above happens, then Scots and I mean Scots, not the SNP have a stark choice to make. Either leave the EU, or leave the UK. Simple as that and nothing to do with discussing Sept 2014. EU or UK, that's what's possibly ahead of us.
The folks still banging on about oil prices and white papers are others who post here.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

Not really. They did roughly the same with nuclear power stations using devolved planning laws to halt reserved to Westminster plans. This is along the same lines. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

I agree it is masssively unfair and unreasonable.
I'm shocked that the scots don't realise this and stop buying this trash but we have the same stupidity down south.
(I guess it show how a like our nations are)
but anyway you constantly tell me that newspapers are dead and only social media counts now, so what is the concern?
anyway, can't wait for the EU referendum to be over, so we can get back to the Scots independence referendum: sadly it looks like I shall have a double disappointment.0 -

So ducking the issue by abstaining effectively allowing a minority to ban shale while hundreds of thousands of jobs are lost and tax and investment floods south is OK in your view?
I guess as long as england funds the expenditure it doesn't matter but how does this plan fit with independence?Left is never right but I always am.0
