Where else could you cross by ferry with your car if not at Cairnryan/Stranraer?
Liverpool?
Fishguard?
Both also in rUK.
Ah well, I'm sure the Irish could expand the Cherbourg and Roscoff route to avoid these pesky UK Customs and stay within the Eurozone eh?
Why should the Northern Isles pay for the luxuries of the nationalist socialists in Scotland? If Scotland votes Yes in a future referendum they have my backing to separate their teat from the vice like grip of the Scottish welfare state.0 -

I see David Davis says Northern Ireland should be able to join the EU as part of a republic if it opts for reunification - unlike Scotland:If Northern Ireland opts for reunification it would have the ability to join the European Union as part of the Republic after Brexit, a leaked ministerial letter has indicated.
Unlike Scotland, which has been told it could be forced to join a queue for membership of the bloc if the country votes for independence, the province would not have to reapply for EU membership, as the Republic is already one of the existing member states.
There you go!
All that those Scots that want to retain EU membership have to do is become Irish instead.
Which is about as likely as much else that is suggested in this thread.0 -

Simmer down and take some deep breaths. It's not like you weren't given ample warning that this vote today was both on the cards, and likely to be passed by majority when presented.
All Scottish areas and territories that went into the Union in 1707 will leave with it. Both D+G and the Northern Isles included, both of which have unionist MP's there only by virtue of a couple of hundred votes these days anyway with the SNP second.
And finally some very clever people starting to question and look into these section 30 arguments v's the legalities of referendums. Curtice has obviously been reading up. This is someone paraphrasing from the BBC report he was on earlier.John Curtice is just after talking about this on the BBC. The SNP certainly looked into it in '07/'11, it would probably be subject to a court case if they did but not necessarily illegal to do.
He quite plainly said if the Scottish Government pushed through with holding a binding independence referendum without the section 30 that unionist parties "Should not bank on it being ruled illegal in court".
After Easter and if no further forward, I think there's a chance the Scottish Govt will take this straight to the Supreme Court for quick clarification. The SNP have been preparing for this for eons they must know these laws backwards. Re Govt direction v's Constitutional question. Suits them for now though, to have May digging her heels in for a few weeks. Unless of course May blinks first and issues a Section 30 anyway. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

No wonder the SNP think they will win if this is any indication of their arithmetic prowess:-
Last night, Alex Salmond stated on Question Time that the SNP got 20 times the votes UKIP got. (@ 1h16m)
Really?...
During the 2015 UK General Election the SNP received a total of 1,454,436 votes.
UKIP received a total of 3,881,099 votes.
They did however, get 55 x the number of UKIP MP's and despite this still decried the electoral system as being biased against them! Fanatics, the world evolves around them!0 -
What a colossal waste of time and resources
I feel so sorry for the people of the region of scotlandLeft is never right but I always am.0
