Now all of this so far I knew anyway ... I just didn't understand why Labour had brought up this subject as we can't ban it, thought maybe something had changed whilst I was away

And what's with the Greens ? If they knew we couldn't ban it anyway why the hell vote and not abstain or say something

I'm not 100% sure ... have been asking my MSP she answered a few q's but had to go

My understanding is Labour brought a motion to ban fracking ... green and lib Dems supported Tories against and SNP abstained, energy is a reserved matter and my MSP was saying the moritorium is still place so it is of no effect some are saying labour are doing it to try and score popular points as we can't ban fracking as we don't have the power and if we attempted it we would be sued.

I'm still tring to get to the bottom of it all ... see what happens when u go away for a break sheesh can this country no behave itself lol

    Cheers Elantan.

It's my understanding that as its a reserved matter a moratorium was the best way forward. So what you say is what I've been told too. If we went for an outright ban it could be overruled. Happy to stand corrected if anyone knows differently.

I know people are untrusting on this issue but I'm pretty confident in Nicola when she says if it's harmful in any way to us or the environment it won't happen here.

What I don't get is ... if we can't have a total ban on it ... why did Labour propose one and why did the Lib Dems and Greens support them ?

Think that's what's thrown me today and why I thought something had changed while I was away

I can only surmise it's the mad,mad world of politics and in the case of labour it's anything to raise their profile & prove they are the 'true' opposition.

Och the labour and libdem bit didn't interest me at all ... wouldn't put anything past them ... it's the Greens siding with them that has thrown me
  • I'm not too sure about this, but although energy policy might be reserved, is "planning" not fully devolved? Not much point having the theoretical right to frack if the local authorities and Scottish Ministers are not obliged to grant planning permission?

    Anyone know?

Yep we have the planning ... we dont have the energy

Which is why the moritorium came in to start with

Basically it appears Labour are as usual at it ... and the Greens sided with them ...

But someone has pointed out, if the Greens hadn't sided with them then the Tories would have won ... not sure if this is true or not ... still wading through loads of stuff about it

offshore oil and gas is not risk free plenty of people have died directly and indirectly from its extraction and use so lets hope the Scottish Nicola Party bans that too

Here is little reminder of why the SNP are despised by right thinking Scots.
