Shes using that study that canvassed less than forty people. A lot of Scottish nationalists do because it said exactly what they wanted to hear and was released right after the result.
But the sample size is so small it's meaningless. Exit polls showed what you said. Young people don't want independence.
I wasn't talking about any poll taken on referendum day.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -
This is propaganda, pure and simple.
Always has been the tactic of nationalists/extremists everywhere throughout history; sure beats winning the argument.
Sure it is...There was no rise in Scottish nationalism: Understanding the SNP victory
It is a mistake, committed by many, to equate a substantial SNP vote with an alleged rise in nationalism or nationalist sentiment in Scotland. It may seem a plausible assumption to engage with (if you do not understand the attitudes of the Scottish electorate), but it cannot be supported by any empirical evidence. To the contrary: the best evidence we have to give us a long term perspective, data from the high-quality, face-to-face Scottish Social Attitudes Survey (SSA) suggests that, if anything, fewer people than before emphasise their Scottish national identity distinctively...
...Crucially, commentators need to stop painting a picture in which the majority of Scotland predominantly base their political decision making mostly on their national identity. There has been no rise in nationalistic sentiment in Scotland. As we (amongst others) have repeatedly shown in our research, the strongest determinants of both independence and SNP support were pragmatic evaluations about economic prospects, trustworthiness and political personnel. For most people in Scotland the SNP is a normal party, that they like, hate or are indifferent to, but those evaluations for most are based on whether people agree with their policies and how they evaluate their representation.
If commentators want to understand why the SNP is successful, they need to make a greater effort at properly understanding how public attitudes are formed in Scotland. Suggesting that it is down to sentiment is lazy at best, but actually misrepresenting the majority of Scottish voters.
I guess you'll know better though right ?It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

It's being investigated. TBH the more I read about it the more it seems like a Beltway issue as our American friends would say.Have you all behaved whilst I've been away ?
Behaved yes. Behaved well? That's a different question.0 -
Today's news has been interesting regarding fracking0

-
I'm not 100% sure ... have been asking my MSP she answered a few q's but had to go
My understanding is Labour brought a motion to ban fracking ... green and lib Dems supported Tories against and SNP abstained, energy is a reserved matter and my MSP was saying the moritorium is still place so it is of no effect some are saying labour are doing it to try and score popular points as we can't ban fracking as we don't have the power and if we attempted it we would be sued.
I'm still tring to get to the bottom of it all ... see what happens when u go away for a break sheesh can this country no behave itself lol0 -
Seems to highlight the SNP's stance on the issue.0

Aye I am a bit concerned about it all0
-
I'm learning we can't ban it anyway even if we wanted to as we stupidly voted to remain part of the UK, so this labour thing is a kinda publicity thing as nothing can be done about it anyway.
Hmmmm ... will keep digging I'm sure there is another side to it as well0
