Someone seems to think the shaggers have something to answer for otherwise there would be no investigation.

So far there is no investigation. Just newspaper headlines and an email.
The office of the parliamentary standards commissioner said Mr Carlaw's correspondence had not yet been received while Ipsa confirmed it had received an email in relation to the two MPs which would be considered.

They won't find anything even if they do investigate. Neither have broken any rules, other MP's claim the same expenses as they do. Like Whittingdale, who they shag is their own business as long as they abide by parliamentary rules. Blimey, you've been right suckered in with all the tripe in that appears in Daily Mail haven't you. :)

This is far more relevant to the thread.
Scotland achieved record-breaking levels of inward investment last year, a survey has found. The latest EY (formerly Ernst & Young) Scotland Attractiveness Survey revealed 119 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects were secured in 2015.

The figure represented a 51% increase on the previous year, compared with 20% for the UK as a whole. On the UK regional league table Scotland surpassed south east England to come second behind London. Mark Harvey, EY senior partner, Scotland, said: "Scotland had a truly spectacular year for FDI in 2015, making some significant strides in key areas, resulting in a major step change in performance.

"Importantly, the majority of FDI projects for Scotland in 2015 were new rather than expansions. "This ability to attract a higher proportion of new, first-time investors signals a positive future for Scotland.

Seems the referendum didn't do Scotland any harm at all.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

One of them has already had to repay incorrectly claimed expenses.

It's been a torrid 12 months for SNP MPs and MSPs. How many have they lost now? Four I think. At best it's a bit careless.

Good to see that the Tory Party's excellent governance of the UK is reaping dividends for the whole country.

Two. Both still with nothing proven against them as yet.

Hahaha. I suspect Salmond's trips abroad drumming up business had more to do with it

No ceiling and no floor eh.
The price of oil has gone above $50 a barrel for the first time in 2016 as supply disruptions and increased global demand continue to fuel a recovery.Benchmark Brent crude hit $50.22 per barrel at one stage on Thursday, its highest level since early November.
The rise followed US data showing that oil inventories had fallen after supply disruptions due to fires in Canada.
Brent crude has now risen 80% since it hit 13-year lows of below $28 a barrel at the start of the year.

The EY spokesman said it was because referendum year put Scotland on the map.

    ( read elsewhere )
I love the way Jamie McIvor attempted to frame this this morning on BBC GMS.

He tries to say the figures are only good because in comparison they were so bad because of the referendum year chaos. He really really gives it his best shot when he interviews a guy from Ernest and Young (listen to the first two questions, the first question in before the poor fellow even had the chance to reply with a "good morning" response).

The interviewee is very polite, ignores his first question, politely humours his second question and then goes on to say that the referendum year was actually a really positive experience for Scotland as far is investment was concerned because it (along with the Commonwealth and the Ryder Cup) put Scotland on the map as far as global businesses were concerned.

Worth a listen for the lols:

But whatever, record investment for Scotland, second only to London last year. Very good news going forward am sure you'll agree. :)

Seems the referendum didn't do Scotland any harm at all.

Apparently it did the image of the UK quite a lot of good as many other countries were surprised a potential break away region would be allowed that amount of democratic say.

The rest of the world now assumes that the issue is over though. If the nationalists keep agitating for endless referendums then I can;t imagine it will help investment into Scotland much.

The rest of the world doesn't seem to quite share the enthusiasm for Scottish nationalists abilities that they themselves hold.

I'm sure Scotland would do "OK" as a semi independent small country. It wouldn't be hell on earth, nor would it be the paradise that you think it would. It would require a lot of very hard work from people like you to get back to the point you were at before you split from the rest of the UK, and to prove to the large minority of Scottish people who didn't want it that your faith in yourself was well placed.

I have relatives and friends who are Scottish born and bred, I am English born and bred, of Welsh descent. I believe that the future of Scotland and its people, is the business of the Scottish people and no one else.

Any debaters here should recognise that and act accordingly.
