You may understand fake facts as a joke on twitter, some poor soul will think that is the case and may base their vote for independence on it. Which you would welcome I imagine?

Or are you unwilling to lead your fellow Scots up the garden path?

It's always "a joke" from certain posters when something outrageous is posted and then called out.

100% misinformation, targeted at those who are unable to think stuff through.

They'll do anything to get to 50%+1 in their imaginary 2nd referendum :)

I don't think the UK government will give them the referendum before we've concluded brexit, but I kind of want them to, just to put it all to bed for the next 50, 100, 300 years. Couldn't imagine my kids having to put up with the constant mendacious SNP threats.

There will be a vote in Scotland originating from Holyrood before Brexit is concluded. Westminster approved or not.

Whether it'll be an outright 'Should Scotland be an independent country ?' on the ballot paper, or 'Should the Scottish Govt enter into negotiations with the UK Govt to discuss independence proposals ?' it'll happen either way. The first is following the 2014 model which is where all the arguments will happen about legalities.

The second is the Scottish Govt entering into an advisory 'conversation' with Scottish voters on their views on a future relationship with the UK Govt. There is nothing legally to stop the Scottish Govt entering into conversation with it's own voters.

A Yes vote in both cases means the same thing. Scots can expect to be asked one of the above ( or similar to ) questions at some point in 2018. Westminster will be powerless to stop a vote happening, though is obviously far more desirable from a pro indy point of view to have many more interjections from folks like Fallon. Or to have Westminster looking desperate in trying to stop one first.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

    Why?

That's what most people in Scotland would hope and expect them to do.

Scottish people are speaking out to stop a further referendum; that's why you won't be able to blame it on WM when it doesn't happen :)

So much for the nasty Tories. The SNP are destroying themselves, day by day, bit by bit.

    Lovely.

'Should the Scottish Govt enter into negotiations with the UK Govt to discuss independence proposals ?'

What proposals are these? Are you seriously expecting a blank cheque from the electorate. What a waste of taxpayers money to discuss proposals. Scotland first needs to decide it's future and plan it's exit. That's a decade of work with the limited resources available.

    .

why would you want to discuss 'negotiations'?
is that because you want a 'little soft independence and not the whole thing? is that like scotland joining the Eu and losing lots of its 'independence?

do you lack the courage to want 'hard' independence?

If Westminster refuse or try and block a referendum with the same question/section 30 as last time such as Fallon suggested briefly in this morning's newspapers. Then the Scottish Govt will have to word the question differently to 2014 and turn it into an advisory 'conversation' with the Scottish electorate seeking their views.
Notwithstanding the restrictions on the Scottish Government’s devolved competence contained in the Scotland Act 1998, no-one disputes that it can lawfully make proposals to, or hold conversations or enter into negotiations with, the United Kingdom Government about (i) altering the constitutional position of Scotland or (ii) widening the devolved powers of the Scottish Government and Parliament (including amending or removing some or all of the matters reserved to the United Kingdom which are set out in Schedule 5 of the Act).

That does not, of course, exclude the possibility that referendum legislation might be challenged, as being beyond the Scottish Parliament’s powers, in the courts of Scotland and all the way to the UK Supreme Court. But any such challenge would be doomed to failure.

Oh, was that on Twitter ? Thought you didn't believe a word of anything anyone ever tweeted on there ?
